Re: Android *RELEASE* on HTC Apache *UPDATES*

Sorry about that kevdawg, I should have them back up by this evening/tomorrow morning. If I'm unable to get the recovered sql data from my host, I will begin rewriting all of the content tonight.

m15t1k0, I have WM6.1 with the SDHC drivers installed. (I have and recommend the value of the Adata 8gb class6 microsd w/ 2 adapters from Newegg). Anyway, I don't think it's the difference between HCdrivers and non-HCdrivers. I successfully used my old 1gig Sandisk minisd for this Android test, with the SDHC drivers that were cooked into my ROM. But it is possible that cooking up a new ROM with some different settings & progs would fix your issue. I kinda minimal-ized my ROM, so I could have more initial space and install newer versions of some of the progs listed in the Kitchen.

Yeah, actually Michael has a point. I've used logmein.com since it was a toddler, and logmein free is a value that's not been beaten by any other company that I'm aware of. Sorry, it seems to be software-plug day for me (unintentional, I get nothing from these places). logmein.com's worth taking a look at. I still use it. (hey, at least I'm talking about freeware! And! you can connect in from your mobile device! Cool! Now when they get a Linux version out...whoohoo!!!)

Re: Android *RELEASE* on HTC Apache *UPDATES*

Sorry for the downtime on my site guys. The write-ups, downloads, images, videos, and information have all been restored.

I will hopefully be posting a new build Sunday night/early Monday morning. Currently I plan for this build to include my new custom statically linked busybox binary, and for it to boot to the shell by default so the tinkerers can play a bit. (typing android and hitting enter will complete the launch) With any luck there will be some new hardware to test :)

Re: Android *RELEASE* on HTC Apache *UPDATES*

I'm having a problem, well multiple problems. One, the android.rootfs.tar seems to have a problem. 3 different archive managers (Winrar, xarchiver, Archive Manager), and 2 operating systems (Ubuntu, Xp) come up with errors about the source file, 1600ish of them. I downloaded it multiple times.

I loaded it on anyway, and I'm having the same error as somebody previously posted. It says something about the SD card root missing, but I can barely read it. I also tried 2 different SD cards.

Any ideas? I'm really interested in this, keep it up!

The file name should be android.rootfs.tar.bz2. If the filename you listed is a typo then ignore this, otherwise, trying to untar a bzip2 archive without bunzipping it first would produce a ton of errors.

In either case, the rootfs should not be extracted for use. If it's showing up on your sdcard as android.rootfs.tar then rename it to android.rootfs.tar.bz2. This should workaround the problem.

Thanks, I'll try that. So, no bunzipping or untarring or extracting at all? Just copy and paste the android.rootfs.tar.bz?

Re: Android *RELEASE* on HTC Apache *UPDATES*

Correct, place all of the files in the root directory of your storage card / then execute the haret.exe. The first boot is long as the filesystem is created from the archive.

W0W, Android on PPC. Sort of like dipping a dorito into dogdo? Well I am glad to see it. I DO need to reflash phone ever week, so will definitely download and put it in the cue. Long cue though. Might be a while....
