bricked?
I'm sort of a nOOb with the xv6700, but not totally new to flashing phones/etc. Anyways I am having some really wierd issues with flashing my phone and don't know if I am totally doing something wrong (I have tried to read up everything I could on these forums), or if my phone is whack.
I just bought this phone last week used, with the standard verizon aku 2.2 on it and it worked fine (from what I could tell). The first thing I tried to do was use the new AKU off the HTC website to update it. It started then gave me a communication error and got stuck in the bootloader function. So I ran the rom update again and it completed successfully, I then unplugged and reset and it gets stuck. Nothing happens, it will not turn on or anything. I tried both hard and soft, with no luck. I can still get it into bootloader mode and supposedly successfully install new roms, but they all do the same thing (I have tried a bunch of the ones on the forums). They all complete, but will not boot after I unplug and do the reset. Any ideas? FYI, I was able to successfully use the Wideawake's AKU 2.2 Beta 2, but now that one won't even work. Any help/ideas would be really appreciated. thanks |
This sounds like what happened to my phone. Mine was still under warranty so i sent it in to HTC for replacement (after reflashing a stock rom of course just incase). I don't think it has anything to do with you doing something wrong though. They ended up replacing my mainboard so it probably wasn't a software issue.
Did your phone work at all when you got it? If you can't get warranty work one suggestion would be to reinstall the stock rom a few different times. Unfortunately though, this sounds like one of about 2 types of bricking that could be permanent to the 6700. |
crap, I just bought this last week too, I haven't even activated it on my account yet. I guess I'll call HTC to see if it ist still under warranty.
Thanks for the heads up. |

Crap! |
I had the Same problem, where I flashed, and it would boot to bootloader mode, but nothing more.
I used this file: http://pdaphonehome.com/forums/attac...bootloader.zip From this post: http://pdaphonehome.com/forums/ppc-6...locked-up.html This resolved my issue. |
Thanks for the tips.
wierd, it doesnt seem to recognize my usb port. I get the error " Cannot open USB port." How did you get this to work? |
You need to disable USB in Activesync. Then it should work.
Have you tried that? |
Yeah, I had done that and still got the error. Worked on a different computer.
But that didn't help. DAMN! They asked me to send it in, but I don't even have the receipt. |
Flash it back to a stock Rom, and bring it into a store. See if they can help.

The exit bootloader program worked for me. Thanks!
(I had loaded two roms several times each, all stuck in bootloader) |
