bricked?

I'm sort of a nOOb with the xv6700, but not totally new to flashing phones/etc. Anyways I am having some really wierd issues with flashing my phone and don't know if I am totally doing something wrong (I have tried to read up everything I could on these forums), or if my phone is whack.

I just bought this phone last week used, with the standard verizon aku 2.2 on it and it worked fine (from what I could tell). The first thing I tried to do was use the new AKU off the HTC website to update it. It started then gave me a communication error and got stuck in the bootloader function. So I ran the rom update again and it completed successfully, I then unplugged and reset and it gets stuck. Nothing happens, it will not turn on or anything. I tried both hard and soft, with no luck.

I can still get it into bootloader mode and supposedly successfully install new roms, but they all do the same thing (I have tried a bunch of the ones on the forums). They all complete, but will not boot after I unplug and do the reset. Any ideas?

FYI, I was able to successfully use the Wideawake's AKU 2.2 Beta 2, but now that one won't even work.

Any help/ideas would be really appreciated.

thanks

This sounds like what happened to my phone. Mine was still under warranty so i sent it in to HTC for replacement (after reflashing a stock rom of course just incase). I don't think it has anything to do with you doing something wrong though. They ended up replacing my mainboard so it probably wasn't a software issue.

Did your phone work at all when you got it? If you can't get warranty work one suggestion would be to reinstall the stock rom a few different times. Unfortunately though, this sounds like one of about 2 types of bricking that could be permanent to the 6700.

crap, I just bought this last week too, I haven't even activated it on my account yet. I guess I'll call HTC to see if it ist still under warranty.

Thanks for the heads up.

My bad, I didn't answer your question. But yeah, it seemed to work fine when I bought it off the guy. I first got this issue when I tried to upgrade with the new HTC AKC. And the only rom I could get to work was the AKU2.2 Beta 2, but even that doesnt work now.

Crap!

I had the Same problem, where I flashed, and it would boot to bootloader mode, but nothing more.

I used this file: http://pdaphonehome.com/forums/attac...bootloader.zip

From this post: http://pdaphonehome.com/forums/ppc-6...locked-up.html

This resolved my issue.

Thanks for the tips.

wierd, it doesnt seem to recognize my usb port.

I get the error " Cannot open USB port."

How did you get this to work?

bigmikemn 05-08-2007 01:29 PM

You need to disable USB in Activesync. Then it should work.

Have you tried that?

oguju 05-11-2007 02:52 PM

Yeah, I had done that and still got the error. Worked on a different computer.

But that didn't help. DAMN! They asked me to send it in, but I don't even have the receipt.

Flash it back to a stock Rom, and bring it into a store. See if they can help.

The exit bootloader program worked for me. Thanks!

(I had loaded two roms several times each, all stuck in bootloader)

helmi_c 05-12-2007 08:22 AM

For stuck in bootloader u might use uni_exitbootloader or the manual way here with mtty:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=304408

or try task 28 in mtty to format/hardreset after that u can try flash shipped rom pack..

or last try is a bit more dangerous...
DONT USE IT UNLESS IT REALLY NECESARRY IT MIGHT CORRUPT YOUR CID (VZW__001,SPC_001 etc)

task 28 55aa will repartitionin DOC entirely, everything is erased, after that u can try flash shipped rom pack (OS,EXTROM,RADIO)...

u should be carefull when apply task 28 55aa it will erase everything, and it might erase ur CID too, so rom update must use NO ID RUU updater only, dont use it unless it really necesarry...:)

for those of you that were stuck in bootloader (where that app worked) did your screen actually show the Serial or USB always?

My screen is actually blank, could it still be stuck in bootloader mode?

Thanks for the info Helmi, I actually tried the manual way with mtty also, but I'll try the task 28, see if that works.

oguju 05-17-2007 12:03 AM

task 28 alone didn't work either. It gave me a bunch of Hex address locations but I'm not sure what is normal.

hmmm, also the verizon store was of no use. Any ideas?

Should I try the task 28 55aa? What happens if it erases my CID? Is my phone officially dead then? At least right now I can update software and all. It is just wierd after it is done when I hit the reset button the screen will do 1 of 2 things. Either it will just go blank and not do anything or more often it will partially clear. Essentially every other line of pixels disappears so the text on the screen becomes even more dim then it already is.

soo wierd

I hv try task 28 55aa with my device, and it erase also my CID, so every time you need to flash new rom, you must use NoID RUU updater, official rom also apply, u need the NoID RUU updater for flashing it to an erased CID phone... beside that nothing is difference.. but still use it as last effort, cos it doesnt 100% guarantee that ur device will back to normal, my biggest guest is your phone is kinda defect? or Maybe the partition DOC is corrupt... I cant be sure..

btw try to flash my R2 rom, since it has a bigger size since it was originally UNIVERSAL rom hacked to Apache device...
