what's a GDC file type???
I was looking for a simple program to make my own ringtones from the 13GB of music I have.. I found ToneThis... they support the HTC wizard and one other that's close to our phones so I figured cool.
but it's sending the ringtone as a gdc file??? what the heck is that? Needless to say no matter where I put it the phone doesn't see it at all. any ideas? or programs to suggest to do what I want? |
Why not just use an audio editing program and edit the part of the mp3 file you want as your ring tone?
The only reference I could find was here http://www.dagondesign.com/articles/...omment-page-5/ it seems to be a type of ring tone for certain phones. |
That's totally wierd. I have been googling and searching for an hour now and can find no reference to gdc file types and what/who they are for. I've found references of people using Tonethis and their phones play it and it's normal.
Totally weird Anywho... my friend suggested Audacity with something called LAME? or to use iTunes to do it. |

 Because I'm DYSLEXIC..... GCD.... GCD is the file type. Not that that helps, but geez..... off to search this one now  |
it's a text file that describes the file you're trying to load onto your phone. lets it now what it is, where it goes, etc.

also, i don't think it would work on your ppc...

Well I give up. That program looked really cool. I liked that I could take cute pics of my kids, make a wallpaper in one click and txt mssg it to myself. But I can't figure out the gcd thing.
So............... I used Audacity, and the LAME MP3 encoder for it. All also free. then because I was too lazy to go find the cable for my phone... I sent it to myself via this: http://rumkin.com/tools/sprint/ Worked instantly. Now I'm making other ringers and fading them in and out and all sorts of stuff. The one I just made sounds really good actually. Wasn't sure it was going to. |
