You can drop kick the sucker in that case w/o damage* Well, at least you can drop it 3' onto cement without a problem. You do need to be optimized for stylus-free use or you'll get tired of popping the case open all the time.

* you can't drop kick the sucker in this case, and if you do, you can't sue me when it breaks

i got the same case in black.. lots of people frown on that case because when you drop the ppc the case ejects the ppc out. i can say it happened to me and it did eject out. but i still love it cause i throw the ppc in my pocket with my keys..

I lost my first 6700 to one of these. Had it on the swivel clip on my belt, tripped on some uneven sidewalk, and the force of me tripping popped open the latch and flung the 6700 out of the case and onto the ground. There goes my screen and the battery flew out too.

The clip kept my case attached to my hip though, so that was nice.

I only use the metal case when I'm going to put the phone in a pocket. I'm using the Seidio leather holster now for when I want the phone on my hip.

I find the metal case prevents crushing and scratching better, but the leather case keeps the phone secured on my hip and absorbs short falls better.

my exact feeling on cases.. that is exactelly what 99% of the users who have used a metal case have said.

For me it doesn't take much pressure to pop my Mini SD out and that clip goes right over the Mini SD.

My card pops out very rarely (less than 5%) - trick is to pull the clip enough to clear the card. If you pull the clip only a bit, it'll touch and eject the card.

I mostly use this Fortte case (with ratchet clip). Good quality and reasonable price:

I just received a case I bought off eBay (item #300079515783) and I must say I'm quite pleased.

It is a very form fitting leather case and the magnet appears to be of appropriate strength to keep the flap closed but not turn the unit on. It will turn it on if while extracting the unit from the case it brushes in very close proximity to the flap. Not really an issue as it would be turning it on while coming out, not going in. I'm very pleased with it and, if used with the belt-through loops, it is really solid. Even without using them the regular clip does a fine job. Highly recommended!!

I got this case a year or so ago, and I also found the latch sub-par, nothing that a pair of needle-nose pliers and 5 seconds of effort didn't fix.

I too keep mine in my pocket as I work in a fairly rough, and certainly not gadget friendly environment (I'm a dog trainer) I have found this case to have paid for itself many times over, I have dropped it at least 3 times onto the sidewalk, and once had a german shepherd dog jump up and bite it.

This device has become my office, even when I am out in the field (and I mean that literally) and I think a big reason for the success of the device is this case.

extreme protection ppc 6700 case

I work construction and needed something which would really protect my xv6700 from elements, without feeling like I was carrying an otterbox.

First, I bought an aluminum case from Seidio. Forget the belt clip, the screw thing on the back of the case consistantly breaks (went thru 6).

Next, I took my Verizon leather magnet case, took off the magnet, applied velcro as a closure, and cut a small hole for the speaker so I could hear VC announcments. Then I stretched the crap out of it.

Aside from having to open the metal case, this has protected my ppc from things like getting hit with a hammer, rain, dirt, mud, etc.

A little clunky? Yes. Do I worry my ppc is gonna get f*#ked up? nope!

PRAISE BE TO VELCRO!

The best case known to me just check out whats not covered by the guarantee

Our Guarantee does not cover:

Any nutshell that has been used while (or for) putting out oil field fires, deflecting bullets, or shielding from bomb blasts. It rules out bear mauling, Rottweiler attacks and hungry rats.
Nor will a nutshell protect its contents when driven over, dropped from a dizzy height, or trampled by buffalo.

Your nutshell will probably survive but the contents most likely won't.

We expect nutshell owners to be circumspect in the use of their electronic equipment.

Do a search too, I know there was a thread a few weeks back that talked about cases.

I have been using the other version of this holster which holds the crystal case here:
http://www.seidioonline.com/index.as...ROD&ProdID=501

Last month I had unfortunate inident of dropping from SUV onto hard concrete floor and was shocked to not had any dents, only a few tiny unnoticable hairline scuff marks where it would have been shurly crushed and dented, which happened before with my older unit.

So I recommend having something like the seidio crystal case because regular leather cases wont protect from accidental drops since unit is not in case, and other metal/leather cases which do stay on are much bulkier..
