Exclamation FYI - MSN Messenger

IMPORTANT INFORMATION

I have had to hard reset my device twice now because of the MSN Messenger application that is included with WM6. I lost a lot of personal information and I dont want to see this happen to anybody else so this is a heads up for anybody who uses this application or any other application which might produce similar results.

If you connect to a wireless router via WIFI and then sign into MSN Messenger, whenever you hit the power button or loose connection to the wireless router the phone will begin to go in a spastic attack trying to connect to Sprint via #777! This might not be bad if you are on Sprint but since the Sprint coverage in my house is horrible I force my phone to use Roam only.

Because I'm on Roam only, the phone cannot connect to Sprint and continually attempts to #777 in a rapid fashion. I couldn't get the chance to change my settings with this annoying pop up so I reset the device. This is a big no-no at least on my device.

Both times that I reset my device, the phone would not boot past the intial WM6 splash screen! I had to hard reset and loose all the important notes and texts that I hadnt backed up.

It happed to me again today and I finally was able to open the MSN Messenger application and click on the menu and select Sign Out.

I think this is very lousy programming logic to endlessly try to attempt to regain the connection but nonetheless use the solution I described here otherwise you will need to hard reset and loose everything as I learned the hard way!

There are several apps out there, some free like Palringo, that let you work with several types of IM carriers all in one. Why not try one and get away from the MSN branded app itself if it is giving you issues.
