Notifications during calls

I have a PPC-6700 (UTstarcom) with Bell, and been getting fed up with certain notifications: whenever I'm in a call, if I have low battery, or receive a text message, this loud, annoying, ugly, revolting sound goes off and cuts of the words during a call.

It may be bad coincidence, but I always run low on batteries or always received 4723983479834 text messages during very important calls. The people that are calling are quite annoyed, and I'm quit annoyed because the notifications deafen me, cut out the words, and we have to repeat half the conversation.

I tried disabling notifications in settings but there is nothing specifically for that. I went through the hacks, set up a notification setting, but that's only for when the phone is not during the call.I searched through the forums quickly, but it seems I might not know how ot refine the search if there already is a solution out there.

thank you
