XV6700 stuck on bootloader mode

Hi I have an XV6700. I tried to upgrade it but now the phone is on bootloader mode and when I insert the usb cable the device does not change from Serial to USB.... The phone was working ok. I was able to update contacts and calendar via USB. But when I tried to upgrade to WM6 then It got stuck in the boodloader mode. I tried several cables that I know work. I also have a spring PPC6700 and it works with the upgrade and with the same laptop and cables. any ideas? Thanks.

Well the USB could be damaged or broken. Does it at least charge when you connect the USB cable?

Unfortunately the link on the site has disappeared. Here's the one from xda:

Hey Gambatte, would his PC have to detect the 6700 by changing from Serial to USB once he connect the USB in order to follow that thread?

Weed, Idk really since I've never been stuck in bootloader and used the mtty. Idk if BL is stuck at USB or serial. If the OP can't get out of BL, I think he has to run the mtty or that other file. I think that disappeared thread had some simple file your could download (not mtty-based) but can't remember what it is called. What caused the threads to disappear? They appear to be gone because other threads with links to it don't work either. Some server maintenance???

IDK either about the threads missing but have noticed there are only 4 pages of threads ever since the site went down and came back online. There are more threads than that but that all the pages allowed now it seems. This sticky for Stuck in BL is still here though.

Re: XV6700 stuck on bootloader mode

That "Stuck" sticky is for reverting BL 2.04/2.05 to 2.02. There were two that were kinda confusing from the title. The one that actually gets you unstuck is missing.:(

lopev02, what bootloader are you running? If you have BL 2.04/2.05 you might want to take a look at that sticky at the top of the forum and consider downgrading.

Re: XV6700 stuck on bootloader mode

I'm having the same problem on Sprint's PPC. I exchanged it today for a refurb that had BL 1.0. Flashed the same ROM that was on the old one. New one has BL 2.02. Its stuck on serial. Is the method in the other post going to work since this already had 2.02 on it?
This one has phone issues (keeps randomly going into flight mode) so I was going to exchange it again, but not so soon. Should I try the method in the other post, or just take it back stuck on BL? Would the store (3rd party - not corporate) know it got stuck on BL trying to flash a ROM or would they just exchange it?

Thanks!!!

Re: XV6700 stuck on bootloader mode

I got it out of bootloader, but I'm hoping someone can explain to me what happened so I know what to do if this happens again. Again, this is on the Sprint Apache with Bootloader 2.02. It was stuck in bootloader (see above post). I attempted to flash the stock ROM and that worked fine. I then again flashed the first 6.0 ROM that was giving me problems and that worked. Now it seems to be ok with that ROM. Can anyone tell me what happened or what to do to avoid this in the future?

Thanks!!!

Re: XV6700 stuck on bootloader mode

It has to do with the ROM size allotment ("partitions" for lack of a better anology) that the BL determines. Here's a post and gguruusa notes the sizes:
http://forum.ppcgeeks.com/showthread.php?t=33459.
The ROM has to fit in the space provided or you get pre-boot problems, stuck at bootloader or splash screen. So you have to be careful when cooking your ROM in the kitchen or loading pre-made ROMs as they are frequently not advertised per compatible BL (Helmi's were though). The BL 1.00 should have no problems as it is the biggest. Idk why you were able to flash the WM6 ROM the second time but not the first time with the BL 2.02. I doubt if the store would take the time to figure out the BL problem. I would have just taken it back and I think after three times they give you a 6800!:)
