This is a final bye bye to my XV6700...

I had a broken usb connection due to a fell with the charger cable on, it was barely charging after this... but anyways, it was working. yesterday, suddenly, i didnt do anything... the Touchscreen stopped working. soft reset, hard reset and nothing. now i am stuck on Tap the screen to start, I have no touchscreen. i opened up the phone, the usb connector broke off the board, no way to solder the millimetric connections, the screen and digitizer looks good, but still no touch screen and no way to re-flash it without usb. anybody wants any parts???? ( shoot im so sad, i liked the damn phone )

Re: This is a final bye bye to my XV6700...

Ill take your memory card drive, PM me and we cant work it out.

.....ANd heres the story why....

3 years ago I accidentally super glued my minisd card slot to the point where you could only slide in and out cards with tweezers. There was no longer and springed rejection. The slot got glued in during a hardcore antenna removal modification I performed, which worked out great (my phone looked awesome, painted it safety orange and it out shines almost all phones i have met). A few weeks ago the plastic peice i frabricated to cover the antenna hole cracked, so I dabbed it up with some some glue. This glue leaked strait onto the mini sd card and glued it in place. A few days ago I tried to remove it to replace it with a minisdhc and it wouldnt budge. Being the fool I am I slid a razor in each slide to slowly break the glue and removed the card. I did it very surgicaly and it worked out well, BUT now the ppc6700 wont read any memory cards at all. If anyone has any tips let me know, and I wouldve started a new thread for this topic alone but I am giving up and getting an instinct or something. I will miss my ppc6700 and due to my antenna modifacation there is no possible way to replace the drive without destryong the whole phone.

But still, fred_dj if you want to send me the little drive I will give it my best shot to slavage this wonderful peice of technology.

Re: This is a final bye bye to my XV6700...

I too, have to reluctantly let my 6700 go. I was planning to keep it until they come out with something better (touch pro) but only 35% of the keyboard works consistantly, the rest of the keys are hit or miss.

I went to the sprint store and they gave me the option of taking a mogul (would sooner use a tin can and string) for $50 or buying a Touch for $99 with no activation fee. Decided to go with the touch. Really not sure about my decision though. I guess that I could have gone through ***-urion, but what they will send me is a total crap shoot.

It's just a shame that it's been years since Sprint released the 6700 and they STILL haven't come out with anything that is measurably better.

Re: This is a final bye bye to my XV6700...

Actually I've gone to the sprint store today to see if I can work out a deal, since I've been paying a insurance fee for years, and they are going to replace my 6700 with a brand new one for free! Hopefully it is the exact same....

I wish that they would have offered me another 6700. The touch isn't all that bad though. Still miss the keyboard.

Re: This is a final bye bye to my XV6700...

So let me get this straight, they're going to replace your 6700 with a new one even though yours has had it's antenna removed, was spraypainted orange, and was super glued?

Re: This is a final bye bye to my XV6700...

I'm selling my 6700 in place of a 6800. The only reason, because I love the phone and hate to part with it, GPS. GPS is the one and only reason I am ridding of it. I just bought a brand new 6800 off ebay for $162 and got an offer on my 6700 for $180! Works for me!
