Although this may not be the right thread to ask this question, I am also interested in knowing what programs I can install in the extended rom. I want to put

Total Commander
PHM Regedit
Microsoft .NET CF 2.0
Null Keyboard

If I put these programs in and remove the junkware what will be the result when I upgrade to the NZ Telecom ROM AKU 2.2? Should I just forget about customizing the extended rom if I want to do AKU 2.2? Should I remove junkware before or after AKU 2.2?

Looks like I have room to install some programs. I was looking over your primer on Extended Rom and have a question, what do you mean by user input? If an install askes where to install (Main Mem or Storage) would that be an example of user input?

Right now I have the following programs installed with 16,921K free:

1. Microsoft Remote Display Control
2. Anton Tomov pocket Mechanic
3. Symantec pcAywhere Mobile
4. Microsoft Pocket Streets for Pocket PC
5. Microsoft .NET CF 2.0
6. Aspercto Software WiFiFoFum
7. PHM Registry Editor
8. Spb pocket Plus
9. Resco Picture Viewer
10. TCPMP The Core Pocket Media Player
11. Resco Explorer
12. Beemer Null Keyboard
13. Adobe Reader for Pocket PC 2.0

Can you suggest any I would be able to move to Extended ROM?

Thanks for the warm invite and happy holidays to you too.
Well by user input I mean, like it auto asks for u to set the program up after install. Or requires you to reset after installing. Your extrom is wide open for customization. You could customize and have things auto install, like resco, tcpmp, and good bit of the ones u posted. Or you could leave it unlocked/unhide and install directly to ur extrom instead of using as storage.
Regards,
Mike

You could customize it now since with the 2.2 upgrade will update the 0S only and u may have to hard reset. Also all those can be put into the extended.

I have the Sprint PPC-6700 and I am trying to follow your instructions to remove factory programs. I currently have ROM 2.06 (Feb/06). When I go into my extended ROM I don't see the following CAB files.

CAB:\Extended_ROM\PPST_FILE_SPCS_1_19_003_with_PRL 20224.sa.CAB
CAB: \Extended_ROM\PP_LockUp_Apac_212705.sa.CAB
CAB: \Extended_ROM\PT_Ril_Apac_206301.sa.CAB

Everything else is there....Were these CAB files added in the later ROM upgrades? Do I really need them? If not then I'm will go ahead and do the hard reset and get rid of this junk. I will appreciate all the help.
Much thanks...

The first one you can get a better version of here at ppcgeeks...

http://ppcgeeks.com/sprint-prl-updat...ight,ppst.html

The other two are patches to the OS

See http://www.pdaphonehome.com/forums/p...laination.html

They are indeed in the latest sprint update, or in http://ppcgeeks.com/custom-aku2-2-be...ended+rom.html

You could just flash the "Plain Sprint ExtROM with all the junkware removed" extended rom.
