ppc-6700 and ev-do/incoming call
 

so I called technical support since the work around posted on this site didn't work. I actually got a rep who uses this sit and sprintusers.com and we spent 2 hours trying to fix the isue. he grabed an old 6700 and a new one. did the om istall and the work around on the old one and it worked. tried on the new one to no avail aftertalking to a few other reps andtrying a ton of things we gave up. he did make multiple notes about the issue and told me to email ecare. maybe if we get enough people to complain they willrelease a software update fixing the problem

so in other words, u got lucky and got a old one ehh? I'm flattered to hear a sprint rep. using our site...hehe.... :D But if I'm not mistaken, its not software, but more likely the chip set, so malatesta said. :(

hehehe, i can see the sprint reps trygin to educate themselves using our site :D

I mean, theoretically, UT Starcom/HTC could do a software patch for the new chipset (if that's indeed what is causing the problem) but I'm not sure how much of a priority it is for them. :?:

maybe they will fix it soon......but it has been awhile with having to press the dial button twice with direct push, and still no fix.

Funny you should post this now, I missed 8 calls today because of this! I was gonna ask you guys how to fix it. *hmph* :cry:

mine accepts incoming calls fine when in a evdo data session. did u do this method?

Also make sure ur in an evdo area not 1x if u are in a regular vision area u will not be able to recieve incoming calls. and i can confirm after doing the steps listed here i have no problems.

yea pzztgotbags they tried it, seems to be a problem with newer manufactured phones...

also make sure that u have the latest and greates rom installed

stopped by my local sprint store tonight after dinner to see if i could get my phone switched out with an older one or a re-furb. the rep said that they are getting people in there ALL the time complaining about this same problem, said that his manager has been hounding his bosses to get some info on when and IF this is going to be fixed. he also told me that he had 3 different customers try locklineing their phone to get an older one and that all three got the new versions and had no luck trying the work around. i really hope there is a coder out there reading this site right now who can help us poor souls who discovered the "genious" phone too late :(.. i love this phone and my only complaints so far is this and the fact that my battery doesnt last at all. i turned my phone on when i got to work, worked 5 hours, sent 6 texts, made 4 calls, recieved 2 calls( none lasting more than 5 min) and when i got off work my battery was at 40%. had to charge it before i went out after work to do my errands. anyone else having battery issues like this? i can put up with it if its normal for this phone, but of course if its not then i would love to replace my batter :)

also tell me ur prl version im using 20219 and it works great i updated to the 2 newest ones and had problems.....

and ajk yea battery life isn't so good, but mine last longer than that with A LOT more useage. u turning it off right?

no, i usually leave my phones on at night when they charge. i do press the power button to turn the screen off when not using it, if thats when u mean.

i think the pri thing might be what needs to be downgraded in order to get by the internet/incoming call thing. thats the ONLY difference.

yea when u hit the power button on the top, that turns it off. hummm running any apps in the background? direct push? email checking every so many mins.? nall theres no fix for this issue as of now...prl or anything....sorry hopefully sprint/utstarcom will wok out a fix.

use magic botton to close all apps, leave that running tho. no dirrect push. no email checking every so often.

I suggest getting a backup or the extended life one battery if u have trouble making it through the day, I think big d5 has 3! I manage on one,carrying my charger everywhere. ;)

thanks but i wanted to know when im on the internet i can recieve phone call ok but i just cant surf the internet an talk at the same time. u gusy were saying something about an older version. mine was made in september 2005 it even have the white keyboard backlight instead of the blue one that the new phone come with. what do i need to check for if i want to get an older version of the 6700. im going to try an go to the sprint store to see if i can swap it for an older one.

thanks i just wished mine had the new sprint logo instead of the ugly old one but i knwo if i take it to the store there goin to give me the new ones that doesnt support evdo/ incoming calls so i guess ill just have to live with it
