how do i backup my contact info onto my computer? i've never used outlook before
|
you just install outlook on ur pc if u don't have it already, and plug in ur ppc with the usb cable, select the option contacts and whatever else. hope this helps.

thats what i thoght, but activesync gives me an error message saying im using the wrong profile or somthing. hmm......just wanted to back up my contacts before i do ur call-while-in-ev-do trick
|
p.s.- your really on the ball with checking these forums man, thanx for all the help, i hope someone is showing u some mad love for all the work ur doing
|
what error is activsync giving u? u can use a exchange server to push email along with store a backup of contacts, tasks, and such. search the forum for diect push a u will see my tutorial.
~mike |
thanks for the compliment, direct push helps with staying in touch with our forums ;) as soon as u or someone posts, I get a email. Sometimes I'm busy, sometimes I'm not. :thumbleft: ya a few select users have showed love by donating. :D

i was getting this: Cannot synchronize with Outlook profile you are using, because a different profile was previously set up or the profile is password protected.
Please open outlook using the appropriate profile. Support code:8503001f i restarted my computer and now im getting this: ActiveSync ancuntered a problem on the desktop. Support Code:85010014 |

 duh!! i cant believe that didnt cross my mind, thats like computer 101: software doesnt work? un-install and re-install. thats my next move |
how many computers are u syning with? sorry took so long was on the ride home.
~mike |
just one. i uninstalled and reinstalled outlook, only it didnt reinstall it??? and now im getting the error on desktop message again. is there any other quick way to copy my contacts so i can get tem back later?
|
some people say that the file pim.vol contains contact information, but I dont know and have never tried copying that file over and seeing the result. You can use the direct push to backup the contacts, or fix activsync and outlook. So does outlook open at all?
|
hm..... i dont see why it shuldnt work now......does the name on ur ppc match the profile on the activesync window???
|
how do i check the activesynk name. the folder name is WM_ADAM_MEDIA
|
so go to start/settings/system/about/device id/ and check the name of the device, if its different than what u posted, change it back to that. ;) this should be ur probelm.....
|
add me on your msn messenger as bunnytrigger@hotmail.com . If you havent solved it by the time i get out of work i can walk you thru step by step i think......hopefully :D...but dont give up, try to solve it yourself , its te best way to learning to use this little thing called PPC6700
|
nope, same. i got outlook working now.
|
you got outlook working, so when u plug in the usb cable, and it goes to sync what happens?

|
ok i give up, i just coppied the pim.vol into my personal folder and then onto my computer
|
Your PPC-6700 disk has a full version of Outlook on it with the activation key on the front.
|
aaahhh., let me see, do you still have the cd that came with your ppc6700
???? that shuld have a serial on it....well, not the cd itself, but the envelope in which it came has it on it ...that could be the key u are talkin about, if i understand it right |
just finished trying that. it wont accept the key
|
now thats odd, its difinitly a good key :D
|
im repairing activesync with the installer cd

wish I could help, but I don't live in an evdo area, so I haven't had to do that, thos instructions are from malatesta, I copied and pasted into my tutorial.
~mike |
Go into settings --> phone --> services --> Internet and then tapped "start" to begin the IOTA process. This took a few minutes.
After doing all this, incoming calls now interrupt my EVDO sessions. Thats it. Hope this helps. Also refer to Stickey How to upgrade Sprint PPC6700 from the old to the new ROM |
i just got mine on monday and it already has the new rom. i did what u said but still no calss in evdo

Once you do it though you are all set even if you do another hard-reset. Updating the profile will NOT fix this...trust me, lots of us wish it were that easy! |
Update!
Re: ring through/evdo
It seems there MAY be an issue with NEWLY manufactured 6700's...specifically they cannot DO THIS ANYMORE... read this post and this one and the rest of this thread I'm still sorting through all of it myself... |
Interesting, I didn't do that and mine works fine. Not sure why.
