Someone is TRASHING our beloved forum!!!!!

Since this is the most-read forum, I decided to post here.

Some A-hole has been changing his name (first Hatard, now Adsterence4) and posting "links" to porn sites/movies. Just to let everyone beware!! Do a search on those names and you'll see what I'm talking about.

Probably futile, but is there any way to block his IP? Mike or any other Mod?

Thanks for the concern signal. Yea we have been under attack for months now but the mods are doing a good job. I deleted all of hatards posts and ip banned but it was a proxy so its not gonna do much good. I also email and username ban too. The attacks more recently have been from a more advanced bot makinf multiple posts withing a short time frame. Seeing what options are available to cut out bot registrations.

I cant remember, but is it required that you acknowledge registration from your email before your account is activated on the website? If not, will enabling that option cost more and will it be able to prevent future attacks such as these. I am thinking that if the registration is automated by bots, that should eliminate that. will be willing to help if it costs more and I know others would follow suit. If anybody else has any other options please bring it up.

See the thing is u have to activate ur account via email. Some how they do it spam the heck out o the board but I've suspect that's its on person/bot doing it over and over.

I have quite a bit of experience with phpbb as you are using on this site. Bot spammers are quite a problem. there is a constant "work in progress" over at phpbb.com with solutions for this. I have had pretty good luck implementing a combination of e-mail activation as well as a picture authentication during registration (where the user has to type in the code as seen in the picture) if I can be of any assistance, please don't hesitate to let me know. I have been lurking on here a while, reading everything just not posting a lot

A couple of methods to prevent BOT autoregistrations is use the obsure code combination during registration. Another method on top of that would be verification to the email address registered to activate the account, also verifying the only 1 registration per e-mail address.

Just a couple of things that I have seen to help prevent this type of attack.

We are using all of these methods. Activation has to be done via email. Only one email addy can sign up for one username. Capa system but I may change it to another over at phpbb but I haven't been over there in a min. Maybe I can find a solution....Thanks for the help and support/ideas guys!

If I can help in any way, let me know. I would probably be best suited for reviewing the porn sites for you. So, just send me a list and I will thoroughly look at every picture and verify that it is indeed porn.
