That DLL has been fixed. I get the SD card disappearing act as well, just not that frequent. Tried reformatting to not avail.
Are you using a named brand card like SanDisk or a cheap on off the internet? Also what size are you using? try a 1gb or 512mb card.
Using a SanDisk 512 MB card. Happens like once every 3 days, so I am not all that annoyed / worried about it.
oh my goodness! I have a 1 gig Sandisk and my memory card has *never* dissapeared. It used to on aku 2.x but since i moved to 3.5 it never has.... I actually am at a loss for a suggestion. Im willing to integrate any fix you guys may come up with, please keep me posted, and if you guys have used other custom 3.5's does it do the same thing with them?

Please keep me posted!

I looked into the widcomm stack. its about 6.5 megs and wasnt very clear on the advantages for everyday use. It looked more like a huge pain in the ass, and only enabled stereo BT headsets to work... plz correct me if im wrong. It also looks like when your not using it, you have to shut it off and go back to the MS stack....

OSX would be out of the question on the apache. Why? iphone uses a little over 508 megs for the iphone operating system. Then drivers would have to be made to handle the apache, not to mention the different core CPU's. This also applies to Linux mobile. Cpu and drivers.

I'm not sure how to exactly do it, but I know that some of the other ROMs and Kitchens have this fix implemented.

JBabey - not sure if you want to implement this, but I think a bunch of users would like this. I think the kitchen "HELMI_Apache_3.5_KITCHEN_PPC-GEEKS_r1.2-pre2" has this fix implemented.[/u]

Additional Thoughts

Thanks for a great ROM. I go back and forth between yours and Sardinours.

I wanted to address a couple of points.

Re: UPX (your stated goal), make sure that you get the latest beta version of UPX (2.92, I believe). Also, make sure that you use LZMA compression algorithm; files become even smaller. I have been able to UPX a TON of files (mostly .exe's, though some notable .dlls (voice command, flash)) to save a lot of space (over 3.4 MBs) in the ROM. And, I am still experimenting.

Re: increasing physical memory, I had an in-person conversation with a tech over at PPCTechs.com a couple of months ago. He told me that the only reason the physical memory could not be upgraded was because of something in the ROM that limited access. He also stated that that would not necessarily be present if Linux were installed. To the extent that our ROM gurus could find some way to access where in the ROM this physical addressing issue is located, and change the appropriate field with HexEdit, this phone would then just plain ROCK. Maybe it's pie in the sky, but I thought I would put it out there for the "brighter than me" software crowd.

Thanks again for the ROM

BigJWizard - make it happen.

<what do you mean it's not that easy>

BTW- ROM is still working great- and tested with a large selection of apps.
All systems are functional.

i am using the pre2.... lemme grab the zip from the FTP, and compare it with my OEM folder, maybe i moved it out of there when i was troubleshooting some dirty little applications.

Fantastic! thanks for the info, ill start up on that next week (gonna be out of town all weekend) and ill post my results, if i can get more room in the rom, we can stuff more crap in there!

I heard the execution rate of programs is faster as well, i would think that decompressing a file would make it take longer to load. Either way, there are a lot of programs that can be squeezed down (like games). And if you guys havent noticed im a huge retro-gamer.
