Yeah, I think it is.

Adding applications

Okay, I'm sure this has been discussed but I don't know the phrase to search for so I hope someone will point me in the right direction.

I own MSVC, SPD diary, and I have other software such as O2 that I would like to be installed when I do a hard reset.

How do I add that stuff to this ROM to make that work?

Thanks!

MrHappy 02-28-2007 11:16 PM

I've been using several of the Roms out there for quite a while and I must say... I don't know what is different but this rom is smoking fast!!! plus my battery life has come back! woohoo

I hope the unified rom can be this good.

It darn well better be, since this is based on a pre-release of the Unified ROM.

BTW, the ROM I run on my own device has Spb Diary, Spb Weather and Pocket Player built into ROM. But I've paid for all that, so it's fine for me. I didn't want to release a ROM with stuff that will bug you for reg codes eventually.

I run the same except I've thrown wibar lite in there as well as spb diary, spb weather and pocket player. Where did you load pocket player to? I haven't actually loaded pocket player yet because I wanted to make sure everything else was stable first.

Thanks,

Jerz

The pre-release being Shawn's r1.2? Or is there a private one you're using? TIA

I put it right there in ROM. Had to do a little surgery, though. The OEM package on the ftp site is for Pocket Player 3.0, which has some UI annoyances they fixed (largely at my urging) in 3.01. So I had to unpack the 3.01 cab file and replace the necessary files to update the OEM to the current version before I put it into the ROM.

And Wisbar Lite... Ick. See, that's why I figure either keep it simple or roll your own. The more you add, the more it's going to turn someone else off.

Shaun's 1.2. I just cleaned it up a little and packaged it.

I flashed the generic "no junk" rom tonight onto a Sprint phone. What Sprint mods are not present on this one? Should I flash to the Sprint no junk instead?

Thanks!

Thank you everyone involved in the project!!

This is my first post and I have been following the unified rom project for the last week or so. The joy of sharing good information among people here is truly heartfelt. Nice work everyone who's been involved. Because of you guys, yet another guy is so much happier using ppc6700. Thank you!!

Jeff-

Since your rom is based upon the kitchen we built through the uniformed rom project, please include Helmi's name in the beginning of the tilte of the file and thread. Helmi made an issue of this earlier. It was his hard work that buillt the bulk of the kitchen, so it is the least we could do. A suggested title would be:

HelmiKitchen3.5Krivincustomr1 or something to that effect.

Thanks for your understanding.

I guess the five or so times Jeff has mentioned that so far in this thread aren't enough. I understand wanting to get credit for something one has done, but IMO demanding that Helmi's name be included in thread and file titles is ridiculous. The majority of the people on this site know that Helmi got 3.5 to work in the first place. Furthermore, that request is one that should be made by Helmi himself, via PM. A third party posting it publicly is tactless and if anything only serves to make Helmi look bad by association.

Has anyone else had an issue with MSVC not talking back on this ROM?
It takes commands fine but won't read confirmations, etc.
Everything seems to work but the voice reading back. Does not work w/ or without BT.

check and make sure that the options "confirm when calling by name", "confirm when dialing by number", "announce incoming calls" are all checked in start, settings, voice command, phone, options

That should be the problem.

THANK YOU!

This is great! The speed and the graphics alone make it worth the upgrade from 3.3...

supadoggie 03-01-2007 03:15 PM

I flashed to this ROM but I miss the alarm sounds from the 3.3 ROM.. anyway to get that without having to flash back to 3.3 and copy them?

You're missing the Sprint customizations in ROM, rather than installing them from the extended partition, and a Sprint bootscreen.

Thanks for the suggestions naigboy, but I had forgot to put in my original post that I had already done that.

I assume that you are not having any issues with MSVC 1.6 and this ROM. It worked nicely under Hemi's 3.3.
So far this is the only issue I've come across with this ROM. I'm going to uninstall MSVC and reinstall it to see if it might fix the issue.

**EDIT**

Sorry to have even brought this up.
I completely removed the application from both the desktop machine and the mobile device. Then I reinstalled it and it worked. So just reinstalling from the desktop after update might not work for everyone.

CMeys 03-02-2007 01:39 AM

I got this installed -- looks real nice. Two problems -- it insisted on renaming my SD card from Storage Card to Storage Card2 which messed up a bunch of shortcuts -- I had to manually fix them. At least that was fixed.

Bigger problem is that I can't get BadSector's IDTransfer to work -- does anyone have it working? MSCV is working fine, just not IDTransfer. Any thoughts. Thanks.

gbm85 03-02-2007 06:59 AM

I finally got some free time to flash this. I've been running the original 3.3 since it came out, waiting for a decent custom 3.5, and I must say this is exactly what I have been waiting for. It is a great balance between vanilla and swiss-army-knife. Having the Sprint customizations built in is an added bonus.

The sounds are great. I no longer find myself turning the sound off during use, which I have always done since the stock sounds are loud and obnoxious.

I haven't had any problems whatsoever. I agree that this is the fastest ROM I have ever flashed.

I believe that the Storage Card2 problem is due to unlocking the extended ROM. I haven't unlocked it personally since it's only 20MB compared to my 2GB memory card.

just making corrections. storage card 2 problem is not due to unlocking the ext rom and the ext rom is not 20mb, it is 10mb. storage card 2 problem arises if you have save mail attachments on storage card checked for example or another program that requires the storage card. if the ppc is restarted and it doesnt see the storage card, cos it takes a while sometimes depending, it automatically creates the storage card folder. to avoid this, uncheck the save attachments, remove storage card, delete the first storage card folder and reinsert your storage card. please do it in that order to ensure you dont have any other problems. hope this helps

CMeys 03-02-2007 12:11 PM

Got it all sorted out. It seems by problem with the IDTransfer was because my BT headset was not paired properly. It's working great. I'm very impressed. Great job.

brightedge 03-02-2007 01:15 PM

Ok, I flashed this rom to replace the generic 3.5 you made. Looks great, works great! But...where is the Clear Voicemail Count setting? It used to be under Start > Settings > Phone > Services > Voicmail > Get Settings. Is there a reg setting I can change to enable it? Or is it in a different location in 3.5 roms?

aughsum 03-02-2007 03:25 PM

where in the regestry can i reenable the stock battery indicator?

also, MMS isnt working. yesterday i had this release up and running, installed an older version of arcsoft mms on my mem card and it worked.. the newer version is not working.. ive gone over the settings, it says pictures are sent but they go nowhere.

when i install arcsoft onto the device the mms dies.. as in wont open at all.

eman 03-02-2007 07:06 PM

Have been using this Rom since the release and may I say it has ben the best so far. No freezes, no lockups. Just running beautifully.......Thanks and good job.

david279 03-03-2007 12:12 AM

is the anyway to get the battery icon back next to the clock? And i dont think Picture mail is sending...

1oddmanout 03-03-2007 01:26 AM

Hi Kirvin. I just installed this ROM, and although different, I like the sprint 'routineness". One question-registry editor? I got most of my programs in extRom. Thanks for the effort-I like the way you put this together. Ain't a 6700 fun?

Total Commander is a file manager and a registry editor. And freeware.

basian2001 03-03-2007 05:53 AM

Hello Kirvin, i like everythign about the rom except for the Bootscreen. Is there any way to change that?

basian2001 03-03-2007 05:58 AM

This is probably the best AKU out right now. It's simple and clean, just how i like it. Make sure you do a hard reset after the upgrade, this will fix most problems people are complaining about.

fadywwf316 03-03-2007 03:55 PM

I noticed you added MMS with sprint settings, if i am using a different rom, is there a way I can install this program because I am assuming this lets me send pics to other users without being forced to email them, instead just like a text message, right? thanks any guidance is much appreciated.

Shaska 03-03-2007 05:05 PM

First off, Thank you to everyone who put their time and effort into this AKU... It is awesome!

Secondly, Has anyone had their TxT message window lock up after viewing a msg and hitting the close/ok button?

Thats the only bug Ive personally seen so far, And I already found a good work around for it... Instead of pressing Ok/Close to go back I just hit left on the analog stick and get the same results without a lockup...

raybudd 03-03-2007 06:08 PM

Absolutely love this new ROM. Inet Sharing works like a charm. However, MMS doesn't work. It lets me go thru the steps to send an image, but it never actually reaches the email destination. Any ideas?

oysterhead 03-03-2007 06:23 PM

does this ROM allow one to open the connection on a bt headset via VC?

some of the other ROMs had issues with this.

AND THANKS SO MUCH.

Jeff Kirvin 03-03-2007 06:42 PM

I use BTAudio from trianglepowers.com to handle the audio gateway.

No idea about MMS.

Wizzard 03-03-2007 10:16 PM

JEFF,

THIS IS GREAT!!!!!!! THANK YOU!

I flashed this last night and it is working great. I have "tons" of free memory, even after loading in a lot of programs.

So far, it has been perfect, which is nice for a noob like me. I'll chalange it tonight with more programs and functions.

Again, Thanks to everyone who built this ROM!!!

You should have well over 25MB of main storage memory still free when you're done, a pretty mean feat for an Apache! Oh, and don’t restore from a full system backup as you’ll end up restoring pre-3.5 system files.

So would I be putting the cabs to the programs I use in this extended rom folder?

If so, all I was able to put in that folder were 3 items before I received the "not enough room" message. Did I do something wrong?

My extended_rom2 shows storage capacity of 9.93MB with 7.39MB in use. (this is where I placed the cabs).

My main memory is

Storage Total 39.59MB (5.05MB in use) Free 34.54MB
Program Total 47.19MB (18.88MB in use) Free 28.31MB
