Please Help, My Wifi Is Harm

Hi everyone, I have a big Problem with my XV6700, some day ago I install wefi on my pocket, then everything goes bad, now when I reset the pda the wifi works fine but when I press the power button to put to sleep the pda and I press again to wake up when I active the Wifi it don't turn on, in setting -> connections -> network card, the tab Wireless disapear, the adapter tiacxwln says no connected, in setting -> connections -> Wireless Lan, the status is wireless lan off, and when the wifi works fine appear thee mac address but when crash dont say anything.

I think that maybe its a compatibility problem cause when I install wefi, install .NET 2 and I already have .NET 3.5, I uninstall both but the problem persists.

I thinks maybe got to do a hard reset but I will lost all the CDMA service settings and here in Guatemala the cellular companies don't active cellphones with CDMA anymore.

If somebody can help me Please I don't now what more can I do.
Thanks.

By the way, sorry for my english, I'm out of practice.

Re: Please Help, My Wifi Is Harm

I understand what you are saying but I dont know if i can offer any help, Are you using WM5 or WM6? Most people do not need .Net 3.5 as 2 is good for most. I know I do not have 3.5 either. It is normal that once you are connected to wifi and turn off the device and wake it back up that you will no longer be connected. I understand you are having issues getting it to reconnect once it 'wakes up' but what all step are you doing to try to get it to reconnect will it ever reconnect with those steps you are using?

Re: Please Help, My Wifi Is Harm

thanks for answer really quick, i'm using wm5, the problem is when I wake Up my PDA, in the X1 icon at the top you only touch it and appear turn on or off wi-fi, well in my case don't appear, just give me the option settings, it's like my PDA don't have wifi hardware, when I still have wefi I receive a message that say that my pocket don't have wifi hardware, but that only happened when I wake up, if I reset the pda the wifi is turned on and I can navigate into internet, I'm even writing this answer with my pda, no with the computer but if I press the power button 2 times to sleep and wake up the connection is lost (like normally happened ) but I can't connect it back, the option disappear like my pocket have no wifi

Re: Please Help, My Wifi Is Harm

feruccio....when you say you installed wifi..are you saying...you never had the option to use wifi, and installed a program for wifi.

Re: Please Help, My Wifi Is Harm

thanks for ask about my problem, about the question, wifi hardware was already installed, I guess it comes built in, the problem begins when I instal a program called WEFI, before I install that program "WEFI", everything goes fine, I active wifi, internet, pocket tv, wifi was great, but now, only when y press reset button wifi cames back, but if i press power button and when it wakes, wifi dont respond, system says that I have no wifi adapter

Unknown Zone 06-01-2008 02:47 PM

Re: Please Help, My Wifi Is Harm

Do You really need WEFI? If not just uninstall, but if you reall do need it.

The easy way out of this ...is never let your 67 fall to sleep mode, just turn off "backlight"

start/setting/system/power/advanced/ and "uncheck" the "turn off divice if not use for" for both (on battery/external battery)

start/setting/system/backlight/battery power and external power/ and adjust you times to turn off the light, so that you batttery will not drain to fast.

Wifi is kinda a big killer on the battery so carefull on wifi.

Re: Please Help, My Wifi Is Harm

I uninstall WEFI at the next day, but the problem was done, I even uninstall .NET 2 & 3.5

Unknown Zone 06-01-2008 03:02 PM

Re: Please Help, My Wifi Is Harm

If you can for future programs you might load...I would keep cfnet 3.5 most of today programs are starting to ask for that file for the program to work.

You are still having the problem with program uninstalled.?

feruccio 06-01-2008 11:31 PM

Re: Please Help, My Wifi Is Harm

thans the worst, I uninstall wefi, both .net but i guess you're right maybe I will keep .net 3.5, i see that uninstalling all those thing don't resolve the problem, so o thinking about a hard reset, but how can I recover the service settings, because thats the only thing i worry, I will lost my phone number, I don't know if there a program to backup & restore CDMA service settings

Unknown Zone 06-01-2008 11:51 PM

Re: Please Help, My Wifi Is Harm

when I do a hardreset....i do not need to reactivate the phone again I have "Hardreset" many of times in the beginning stages of my pocketpc life...all that info is programed when the phone is activated and to access it you need the MSL Code.....so really I fell you will be fine with a hardreset...I hope the same goes for you.

Reload Rom:
Hardreset=You have to hold the two softkeys "-", which is the button on the left above the talk button and the button on the right above the end buton. While holding both of these keys press the softreset button. It will then ask you to push Y to restore your device to its factory defaults or N to cancel.

Now I would worry more about losing your contacts....for that d/l Pimbackup (freeware) to backup the contacts.

Re: Please Help, My Wifi Is Harm

I guess thats what I got to do, but my phone was buyed in the US, not in the contry I live, I activate with a guy that is a genius, he works for the cellular companies in Guatemala, and he told me, the phone works with cdma so it have a code that prevents the cloning of numbers, if you make a hard reset you will lost it, so I need to back up all those configs, reading some post I found that dialing ##778 send or talk or green button, show some configs, but I don't know if thats all I have to Backup, cause I found that a file $SYS.ESN store some settings too, or this file store the same configs that ##778 shows, I don't know, that is my fear, cause if I told him that I deconfigure mi phone he will not make all the work for free, actually is really expensive.

Unknown Zone 06-02-2008 12:17 AM

Re: Please Help, My Wifi Is Harm

yes the ##778# will give you the MSL screen and need the code to get in... you will have like:

Edit
View
Cancel

This is the programing area I was talking about.

With Sprint I d/l the program GetSPC and entered the ESN and it will shoot out the code for the MSL..dont know if it is the same for your phone......also 000000 is verizons MSL code to get in the programing area.

If your friend told you that you will lose the info..I guess you will lose the info....really I think you will be fine with a hardreset....cause you are reloading o/s and not reprograming the phone.

Re: Please Help, My Wifi Is Harm

exactly that what I need, now the million dollar question, how can I backup all this configs, then I hard reset and if something goes wrong with the phone service i can restore it

Re: Please Help, My Wifi Is Harm

This program will save all setting in the phone like ESN, phone number, everything related with cdma service?

Re: Please Help, My Wifi Is Harm

I know "weedahoe" uses this program and it looks like he is not online today, so I cant verify that question...maybe someone will chime in that uses that program....I guess that is all I can do for you...hope everything works out for you....good luck.

thanks a lot, I will read more about this program, so I hope I dont need to restore everything manually, and the program not restore even the bad functionality of the wifi, I that case I'll better wait so i can talk with weedahoe, and I found a program, sprite backup http://www.geekzone.co.nz/content.asp?contentid=5819 but I'll be waiting

I use Sprite Backup...and that is what it is just a backup and does not clone....Spb Clone...is suppose to clone the phone, but again I cannot verify.

Re: Please Help, My Wifi Is Harm

Sorry, it was the weekend and I was off doing many other neglected things. UZ has you on the right track. I do use Clone and it works great but I do not thing it will help you in your case. The reason why is because it creates an EXACT image of the device. It saves all pic/vids, apps installed, registry settings, call logs, contacts, any and all settings, ECT. So if there is an issue on the device and you back it up, you are also backing up the problem.

Re: Please Help, My Wifi Is Harm

Have you played with all the WeFI settings? Looks like it can be configured alot of ways. Especially try the performance slider. It helped me alot with connection issues in the normal WM6 WIFI setting.

http://www.freewarepocketpc.net/ppc-download-wefi.html

Also, looks like they have a support email: support@wefi.com. Don't know how responsive they are but worth a shot.

feruccio 06-02-2008 02:24 PM

Re: Please Help, My Wifi Is Harm

Maybe SPV clone options alow to select everything i want to keep and don't,
thanks gambatte for reply, since the moment i install wefi everything goes wrong, because the wep the device store, was like the program erase them all, sometimes the wifi ask me about the wep of my wirelles router to join my network and get internet access, something it never happend, i tap it once, but now my pocket is odd

feruccio 06-02-2008 02:49 PM

Re: Please Help, My Wifi Is Harm

Maybe exists a program that only back up service settings, because thats everything i need

gambatte 06-02-2008 04:13 PM

Re: Please Help, My Wifi Is Harm

I don't know but would it help to go through the registry and look for traces of the WeFi? Maybe it still lingers? What do you guys think, Weed and UZ? I think what the guy did to get the CDMA working on "non-CDMA" networks is probably the key and I don't think anyone here would know that trick. We all know that on a "standard" USA setup a hard reset won't affect phone performance.

feruccio 06-02-2008 04:49 PM

Re: Please Help, My Wifi Is Harm

I already search in almost all the registry, but there's no wefi values or strings, I'll try in the weekend make the hard reset, and I will call the guy that active my phone if there's some trouble, with all the things all you guys say i'm sure that everything's will be ok
thanks for all.

you could be right at this point anything might help...I run a registry cleaner for any bad registry settings left behind from uninstalled programs or and look in HKCU/Software/ or in HKLM/Software some to that effect and delete anything dealing with WEFI.

I had explained that also that here in the USA we dont activate everytime we hardrest cause it does nothing to the programed info stored on the phone it just reloads the o/s, that is what I am also afraid of just as feruccio is...since this is not no regular setup programed phone and we have no idea what his friend did, or he can go line by line and start writing what is programed in the ##778#.

I would also ask the guy dealing with your situation feruccio and ask them if a hardreset will deactive the phone? Does your friend that programed it know of any programs to backup your service?

It is almost coming down to just bite the bullet and do a "hardreset" and see what happens.

Feruccio...please do report back if you do a hardreset and what happened..etc...good luck.

feruccio 06-02-2008 06:45 PM

Re: Please Help, My Wifi Is Harm

of course, I'll report everything if someone needs help with a related problem I also find some key to enter phone settings that maybe help someone

##778 seems to be the most informational... gives you the option to just view, edit or cancel. Shows all of the programming options in the phone for NAM, data, etc.. also gives the ESN, MSID, life counters, software version, manufacturer date (Mine says Nov 18th 2005)

##7764726 (##PROGRAM) asks for the unlock code (000000 on Verizon, MSL on Sprint?) and immediately gives you the NAM and EVDO data programming options. Some interesting stuff there that I don't really understand and didn't mess with. Also note that no matter what you do here, it will require a soft reset to get out of this screen even if you don't change anything.

##374 (ERI), gives only one option.. "Update ERI" after you enter the security code... again, requires a soft reset in order to exit this screen

##775 (PRL) same as above but only gives "Update PRL" as an option. Ditto on the soft reset as well.

#4357 (HELP) note the single pound symbol here... This one looks a lot like the ##33284 (DEBUG) in a lot of Sprint phones. Phone #, ESN, Software, PRL, ERI, SID, network, channel, device capabilities, browser info, etc. Nothing really special here.

##3328873 (FEATURE) has already been mentioned before in enabling tethering.

and let me say THANKS FOR EVERYTHING, EVERYBODY REALLY HELP ME, and now the proof of fire to see what happens

Unknown Zone 06-02-2008 07:14 PM

Re: Please Help, My Wifi Is Harm

The "MSL code=Unlock Code" is the set of numbers etcc..you need to edit the program section entry..so that you can edit your program settings. for verizon phones it is 000000 and for sprint phones...you need to run the esn on GetSPC to get the msl/unlock code which will be a 6 digit code to enter this is what sprint 67 customers need.

http://www.ziddu.com/download.php?ui...nbg%3D%3D9

d/l the link above for GetSPC...xfer to the phone and run program.

Enter your ESN in the Input area
Hit "GO"
Output will be your MSL/Unlock Code

Dont know if it will work on your phone..but it is worth a try.

or

Just PM me with the ESN and I will PM you back with the 6 digit code to try.

Just reading through all those support comments on the download page and wondered if you tried the file mentioned by the WeFi support:
Galia Finkelstein wrote ...

Hey all, I work at the help desk at WeFi. Regarding the problem with the automatic connection we have a version fix for it, just run this file and you should be good to go http://wefi.com/static/RestoreZCAutoConnect.exe We don't have experience with the Samsung models but we're working on it. If I can assist with anything else you can drop me a line at support@wefi.com. Thanks for supporting WeFi.

Sounds like a few ppl had the same problems as you after uninstall. I'll keep fingers X-ed for you if you have to do the hard reset. Hopefully, you can get it back without too much trouble/expense...

Thanks

I wasn't quite clear if you reinstalled the WeFi and .net software and applied the patch or if you just applied the patch. I thought the .exe was a patch and not a new version. Just wanted to make sure you were aware of it and exhausted all your options b4 the hard reset. Did you email WeFi support? Sorry, don't have any more suggestions...

I'd do a soft reset after installation for good measure.

In a way Feruccio is not lying with his G6 sig...which tells me he is most likely running the Intel imac version, even though the "G" was based on processor chipset people are calling the Intel Version as another generation which would make this model G6, I know people get there panties in a wod and get so upset when they hear/see G6 it is just a reference to the Intel Chipset, that is the way I look at it....just let it go and stop finger pointing there is nothing wrong with his sig 8)
