bluetooth issues

I thought I'd give the newer roms a shot. I tried out this relelase & skipped the customizations. that way i could just have a base os with the sprint mods already installed. but I could not get bluetooth working.
I kept getting an error about the bluetooth hardware.
I rolled back to the UTC release today & bluetooth liked with my headset just fine. am I missing some patch or mod to get the bluetooth to work properly?

Re: YACR - Kirvin's Custom AKU 3.3

After so much reading and giving other roms a try, I decided last night to download and try yours. It hasn’t been 24 hrs. yet, but so far I like what you have done with this one.

The number of roms on this site and their functions was blowing my mind. For the novice, like myself, it was becoming a chore to do so much reading. I only have off from work 2 days and I cant spend 2 days strictly reading; I must get out the house sometime.

Other than Spb Mobile Shell, I have no idea what the rest of your programs do; so that’s some more reading………uuuhhhhgggg!!

SK Tools ?

eReader / Pocket Player / Audible Air (I’ve an 80G iPod which currently has 13 TV Shows, 24 Movies, 11 Music Videos, 37 Unabridged Audio Books & 561 Songs……what do I need these 3 programs for?)

Handyshopper (Is this for like grocery shopping cause I don’t cook….at all)

TodayTime

I have no idea how, but I'd like to remove the programs that I dont need.

I downloaded both of these (see below), but I’m not sure which one I actually used. I’m thinking it’s the 1st one, so can you tell me which one exactly this thread was referring too and I can delete the one I don’t need. I’d hate to have to re-flash again for whatever reason and not use the correct one.

I've posted my own ROM to the FTP site, under the folder "Kirvin". It's a 3.3 build with a custom EXT ROM that gives me my full loadout and nothing else after a hard reset. The only thing it's missing is the Think Outside BT keyboard driver, and that's only because the OEM for that doesn't quite work yet.

Why 3.3? Because it works. Still too many compromises with 3.5.

Out:
MSN (all of it)
CyberonVDD (if you want voice dial, install it yourself)
ClearStorage
IA_Zip
SMSRetry
Intellipad (the useless T9 SIP)
Transcriber (really? on a 2.8" screen?)

In:
.NET CF 2
Helmi's tweaks (without which we'd all be watching TV instead of building ROMs... Cheers, Helmi!)
Internet Sharing
Sprint Extended ROM mods (you don't need the Sprint Extended ROM, it's all preinstalled)
A2DP
WM5torage 1.7.3
Windows Live Search
Total Commander 2.5, which has better softbutton support than the 2.0 everyone else is using
Pocket XPDF
The actual Sprint bootscreen, so as not to raise suspicion if you need to get it serviced.

But wait, that's not all!

The custom EXT_ROM I'm including also automatically installs:
Spb Mobile Shell
SK Tools
eReader
Pocket Player
Audible Air
Handyshopper
TodayTime

Of course, all the commercial software installed by the EXT_ROM is completely removable.

This was built for me as my ideal ROM and I only post it in case other Sprint users with similar needs might find it useful. Since the Sprint customizations are baked right in, it's pretty much useless to anyone else. That said, I've provided the ROM, the Kitchen I used and there's an installer in the Installers directory if you're really lazy.

Just ran into a snag - no matter what I do, I cant turn BT on.

EDITED - I'm editing this to provide more information / clarity.

Initially, after installing this rom, I was able to turn BT on. Then, I installed the drivers for ThinkOutside BT Keyboard & Mouse and did the reset. Once my phone reset, BT would no longer come back on. It would hang for a long time, then nothing.

I was about to uninstall the ThinkOutside drivers and re-do; but before that I reset a few more times and tried to turn on BT; it would still hang. Since this was continually failing, thats when I decided to uninstall the ThinkOutside drivers; but before doing that, I removed eReader / Pocket Player / Audible Air / Handyshopper. After removing these programs, I reset and my BT turned on.

I never did get around to uninstalling the drivers; it all works now.

I recommend using one of the 3.5 builds instead. This one has a lot of problems, especially with Bluetooth.

The reason I'm using it in the 1st place is based on your words in the original post:

When that post was written, 3.5 was very much a work in progress. That is no longer the case. 3.5 is nearly finished and quite stable now, and avoids some of the problems I had with that 3.3 ROM.

If you're using a Sprint phone, I recommend the ROM in the "Clean and simple AKU 3.5 for the Sprint Apache" thread.

That post was written less than a month ago.

And yes, I am using Sprint, and although I prefer it clean, I still would like to have my own programs that do matter to me.

The ones you removed....terrific job!

The ROM team works fast...

The ROM I mention above should fit your needs.

As intended... As a programmer myself, I'm amazed at how fast the 3.5 kitchen has come together.
