Supposedly "Unlocked" UTStarCom phone..

So what's your verdict? I don't believe it for a minute:

I talked to the guy:
-The phone has Sprint markings (pictures have UTStarcom)
-ESN was last activated on Sprint

So from what I understand about using phones on different carriers, there's a 99% chance this thing will never fully work on the Verizon network..

Q: How can you tell that this phone is unlocked? May-04-08
A: I unlocked it. I flashed the phone so when it powers up, the Starcom splash screen shows up instead of the Sprint splash screen.

That has absolutely nothing to do with it being unlocked. I can change splashscreens all day long and in under a minute. If someone wants this phone for Sprint then it may be ok, but if you want it for VZW, I would stay far away.

I did email him though and asked what method he used to unlock it and informed him that just because he changed the splash screen means nothing at all. Ill will post what he says about it because I do not know of any software out there to do this.
