sprint setup info

when i first got my sprint phone(apache) in the mail i had to insert a bunch of codes that an operator gave me. if i do a hard reset/ flash the rom will i need to know those codes or any other pins?

i know with cingular/att and the mpx 220 that wasnt an issue maybe because they use sim cards.

any help would be appreciated as i want to put WM6 on my apache. seen something about gps setting i didnt think this phone had gps???

Re: sprint setup info

you dont need those codes as they are mainly for changing settings and/or used for diagnostics. But here is a link for all of tha info plus more

Here's a list of all ## codes from the registry:

#4357#
##33284#
##3424#
##778#
##786#
##8626337#
##2539#
##7738#
##3282#
##775#

So, ##778# - edit - Master SubLock. = Advanced programing.

Re: sprint setup info

To make any changes, yu will need the MSL code - that is the 'Master Lock'. You can call Sprint, but thier policy is to not give it out unless you are canceling your service, paid in full and contract obligations has expired.

I called an agrued with them for a bit - my phone is paid for, has no contract and is a add-on line to my wife's contract. After telling them - 'Oh, I can drop my service and get the code, but you won't give it to me to keep me as a customer'... they broke down and gave it to me. Not right away, but the tech said "OK let's try s few things. Oh, you mite won't to write these down in case..." and gave it to me.

So they'll give to you, but be ready to pull some teeth to get it.

The GPS only works for 911 calls. You can hook it to an external GPS antenna and use it like a Tom-Tom or Garvin.

Right, but keep in mind many people have damaged thier radio by connecting an external ant to the back of thier unit where it is known to be weak on the MoBo

Seriously, the external antenna connector is weak, but GPS is connected via bluetooth.

I've never had a problem getting my MSL. I just tell them I need it to reprogram my phone and they freely give it to me. After all, it is my phone so I have the rights to the info.

Re: sprint setup info

One thing I had to do after I bought my apache off Ebay is when I did the ##778 the previous owners number was all over that area. Once you see their number in one spot it's easy to recognize it in all the other areas. I just changed in in every field I found their number in and my phone has been working without any issues other than the minor things with updated ROM. After tweaking it and adding the HHC Customizer (www.pocketemu.com) and a few other minor things it totally rocks. My boss has a few PDA cell phones and a few regualr PDAs and she's envious of my Apache! LOL
