Well yes and no. If you have VNC server software running on every system you want to remotely connect to, then no you do not need this. But if you want to use Microsoft's built-in terminal server/remote desktop capability (built into Windows 2003 Server, Windows 2000 Server, Windows XP Professional, and Vista Home Premium, Business, Ultimate, and Enterprise) then you can't use VNC for that. You need either the built-in Terminal Services client, or this much improved one ripped from Crossbow.

So what do we do with this cab then? Just install it like any cab and the RDP will work perfectly?

I never understood how to use the Remote Desktop that's built into XP anyway. I tried a bunch of things and it never connected to my other unit.

Can we use the RDP to connect to a XP machine running VNC or does it HAVE to connect to the RD of the XP machine?

No, that's what I was trying to say. The two apps accomplish the same goal but use completely different methods to do it. So the VNC viewer will not work with MS terminal server, and the MS Remote Desktop client will not work with the VNC server.

Ok then I will keep both just in case I need one or the other some time.

Thanks for your help.

Kitchen OEM

If anybody downloaded the Kitchen OEM, please note that it contains a file tscscan.txt that might get created by another program depending on what you are cooking. If you try to cook the rom with the file in it and it is already getting installed by something else, no big deal the createos.exe program will just tell you that it skipped it. I decided to leave it in the OEM folder I created in case someone doesn't have the other program that is installing it in their rom. You can remove it if you want.

You'll need to make sure RDP is enabled and mapped to an IP on your firewall and your firewall also needs to permits RDP (port 3389) to be able to get to your machines, otherwise it would only work from inside your NET.
