Yes you can use VoIP with the PPC and there are many sites out there (google) that will give you the software. There are threads here that people have posted on thier experience and usage of VoIP with the 6700. As for a particular client for Asterisk, IDK.

There is nothing in the coding of the 6700 WM5 OS that regulates 1mb v/s anything faster. I would look at the data negotiations in your router
especially when it is in mixed signal (b+g) mode. Most routers set for mixed mode will only do 54(+) when NO "b" devices are connected. If you have a PPC on 802.11b and a laptop using 802.11g and your router is in mixed mode then it will bring down the network (including the laptop on G) to a max of 11mbps. Last time I looked each bar represents a speed curve on the router. In other words you have 5 signal bars right?
1 bar = 1mbps
2 bars = 2mbps
3 bars = 5mbps
4 bars = 7mbps
5 bars = 11mbps
Also keep in mind that your FTP rates can only be what the CPU can handle and compute as well as the bus or buffer side. So you may have a hardware limitation but it will not be regulated by software.
