I'm getting no text messages .....

I'm getting no text messages, and when I do get any - they are several hours overdue or late, or from the previous day for that matter.
I was on the phone with Verizon and they had me do an over the air programming which fixed the problem only briefly....a few minutes later the problem returned....no more text messages....
I think the rep said something about the radio....could this be my problem ?
How do I tell which version of the radio I have and how do I upgrade ?

LOL bc I just replied to the same post about this over on PDAPH bc you didnt exactly tell us what the issue was that you were having.

Try upgrading to a more recent ROM because I know on the other board you said you knew you were not recent. If you go to make a call do you then get your TXT or maybe VM notifications? There are some good CSRs out there but most are like talking to the monitor that youre reading this from. Tier 1s almost always suck. They arent there for real tech support but rather to answer the phone and do data entry.

As for what radio you have, you can go to Start -> Settings -> System -> Device Info or you can simply reboot your device and then look at the screen as it boots up and look for the numbers next to the red "r".

I went from 1.27 to 1.41 to 1.43 and never noticed any difference at all. However there are many threads of people saying they "get TWO more bars" and others (like myself) who say they get no change.

Now, Ive done Math and Engineering and Ive worked on electrical, mechcanical and computers for years so this 6700 is nothing to me. But what you have got to realize is that these radio updates are not amplifying your phones radio ability to receive a signal from a carrier. It just isnt physically possible with the device being as small as it is and with the limited power it has. However, most people will notice a difference in a 'known' dead area if they day they go there is cloudy or sunny. So there are several things that contribute to the communication between cell tower and cell phone. Someone some time back had written a technical article on what exactly these 'radio upgrades' did and for the most part it had to do with the wat the phone looks for home towers v/s roaming towers. Then you had people claiming it burned out thier radios. IMHO, they are full of it bc as I said earlier, it doesnt boost the amplification of your internal radio to help better recieve a signal. If you work someplace like I work and have two floors on concrete and steel over you, after you do a radio upgrade and if that concrete and steel is still there then you are going to get the same reception. Bottom line.

I think I have bigger problems... The speedials in my dialer have disappeared as well, and sometimes I have to reboot the phone before I can even do a *22998 or the over the air programming because it saids the call cannot be made at that time...
The phone has also gone back to locking up during calls on the 1st ring....
Some of this seemed to happen after I cleared out my text message "sent" mailbox which had almost 300 messages saved....but text messaging wasn't working then either but I didn't have other issues mentioned above...
Any ideas on this one, but I'm thinking I will reflash my phone and clear out my external rom at the same time since it is full....
This is just ridiculous...having these problems all of a sudden...

I do have the latest radio, so the data in my phone is corrupted.
I should also mention that I have over 400 contacts that I have to restore everytime I flash my phone with a rom...
Is there a limit to how many contacts the phone can hold with causing corruption issues. My contacts appear to be fine, but the other parts of the phone have corruption issues...
