WM6 crashed at 99%

hello everyone i have a bit of a dilemma.. my old XV6700 i bought about a year ago which i did the WM6 update went smooth as pie.. well today i had to get a new one cause it broke.. so i tried to do the update on the new one and here's what happened...

well like the title says... i used Ver 1.02 bootloader and on my pc it said device error could not finish install 99%. so i looked at my phone and it just showed 99% on the screen.. i tried to run bootloader again and got the same result.

so i hard reset the phone.. the verizon logo at startup looks like multi colored static on an old TV set and when the phone finishes loading all i see is the start menu, blank white space and new/contacts on the bottom.

i tried the 2 loaders and bootloaderfix.. hoping to get something to work and all 3 give me ROM image not found.. ID ERROR

i dont kno what to do... i read that the update cant be done on the new phones but i didnt know this cause i thought it was just like the old one. so i did the update b4 i found out this information.. :(

if u need pictures ill post them first thing tomorrow.

what PC OS are you using? Vista or XP? Have you tried to flash with something other than WM6? Have you tried a custom WM5 or even a stock OEM ROM from the carrier?

The 4am TV screen (thanks Captain Jager) is caused by trying to load too big of a ROM (program data is loading into the splash screen image).

Are you sure your phone has bootloader 1.02? New/replacement phones generally are 2.05. If you have a 1.04/2.04/2.05 bootloader, all of your symptoms are because the allowed ROM size is slightly smaller w/ those bootloaders than prior bootloaders. There is a different (3rd) RUU for 1.04/2.04/2.05 phones. The recommended solution if you have one of these bootloaders is to downgrade your bootloader to 1.02/2.02.

If you actually do have 1.02 on your phone, you probably need to restore your partition structure using mtty. Instructions for that are in the bootloader downgrade instructions as well.

yes, i did try mtty but i dont get a USB option in the COM select drop down menu.. however looking at my phone as we speak.. its bootloader v2.02, im using Windows XP 64-bit which i didnt have a problem with b4. is there another post on the fourm i missed for bootloader 2.02 install?

i also tried this - APA_VZW_20720_206_11000_WWE_Ship i believe is the OEM if not i tried for hours last night to get a OEM rom but had no luck..

You HAVE to do the task 28 55aa mtty thing after downgrading, or you'll end up like you did before. If you didn't get a USB option in mtty, it's likely because you didn't stop ActiveSync.
