xv6700 running AKU2.2 and no default cabs installed
I am a freak when it comes to modifying PDAs, I have owned several of the pilot devices (Pilot 1000 and 5000,Palm III, m505) then moved on to HPs (1910,2210, 6515) and the Dell Axim v50.
Now I moved on to the Verizon xv6700 and I am learning the new tricks thanks to this site. I am going to list the steps and links I have taken and visited in order to have the xv6700 running a modded ROM and fewer to no apps installed from VZW. 1. http://www.zdziarski.com/papers/xv6700.html posted by Firegeek, this site has info on the cab files that are installed after a hard reset of the device, the author has stated that no cabs are need and that is exactly what I have done (not installed any) 2. The nice work done by wikeawake http://rapidshare.com/files/11053626/VZWCustom.rar or now you can also use AKU 3.3 ![]() 3. All registry hacks are available here http://ppcgeeks.com/wm5-registry-hac...ootscreen.html Thanks to malatesta, I used only the ones I needed you might pick and choose your own reg hacks. Ok the install: 1. flash wideawake?s custom 2.2 2. after a reset, I followed this step found here http://ppcgeeks.com/how-to-remove-fa...hods-t360.html posted by BIG D5 Once you get through with the device setup (time zone, password, etc.) The device will start to come up. You will get the message 3 secs to software install. As soon as you see this message, press the soft reset key again. 3. After the second reset I did not install any of the cabs found in the extROM, from this point on I had to only setup the dial-in server which is: Setup EVDO connection dialup modem. Phone number is #777, username is XXXXXXXXXX@vzw3g.com, password is vzw (X?s are your wireless phone number) 4. After this I setup my usual stuff (activesync, apps, and personal settings) I no longer have the verizon Wireless sync software, taskmanager, and a few others which I never used, and memory was Storage= 44MB and Program=50MB 5. I have noticed that AKU3.3 is now available and will be trying it next, hope this info is of use to someone and again thanks to everyone that helped me out. |
