well..
keep in mind that your 6700 is a pocketpc, not just a phone. So, compatibility of music files is not so much a requirement of the phone, but the particular program you are using. So in effect, you can play just about any kind of media file out there. mp3s of course are ubiquitous for there compatibility and degree of commonness. I have a handful of m4a's on mine. The question you should be asking yourself instead, is what media player do you want to use to play said files? I generally use WinAMPAQ because its winamp for the pocketpc.. Although, GSPlayer is a decent freeware player too.. There are a plethora of commercial apps to choose from, each with a varying degree of features, including everything from streaming support for shoutcasts and multiple playlist management, etc etc etc.
Resco Radio is another app i use periodically, but just for internet audio feeds, not to play local files on my SD card. You can try the demo and see if you like it and want to buy it. Now, if you are asking as to a sub service that has a native or easily viewable page for QVGA screens, then i can't answer that, as no subscription service rips their audio to my exacting standards.. But the days of ?berNet are over, so that's another story.. |

There are lots of sources and players out there thy HERE for music videos, for radio try HERE, And for tv try HERE. As for sights like Lime Wire there is one Napster To-Go Device check it out. As for players I like TCPMP check it out. THere are more sources and programs available like turning your PPC into an ipod. Just do some searching and you will find something you will like. Hope that helps

cliffordsound,
I personally use URGE and download subscription music to the storage card on my 6700 without a problem. Pretty much any of the PlaysforSure subscription services should work with the 6700. I just liked URGE's interface and they had a special where if you paid for a year you got two months for free. Several other users have discussed this on this forum: http://pdaphonehome.com/forums/ppc-6...my-6700-a.html |

Not quite a download.
It's not a music download service but, if you know somebody with a XM account and doesn't use online streaming. You can use their username and password at musicdock.com to listen to XM radio stations. Be sure to change the bitrate up high. Sounds pretty good but will drain your battery if you listen for a long time. I keep my phone plug in and use my Jabra bt620s bluetooth headphones to listen at my workstation. These things last up to 14 hours of streaming. Also another music player is MortPlayer It can be set up to shut off the screen and save battery life. I just got done working 8 hrs. and was listening to music off the card and still had 40% battery left. Also you can alway do a google search for music.

Dedicated Rhapsody user for some 3 years now... not sure if this has changed in the last couple years, but when I tried out Napster and Yahoo they didn't have anywhere near the variety of music that Rhapsody had. They've had software issues in the past, but the latest interface is much easier to use than a couple years ago.
I have a new HTC Touch (Sprint), and only yesterday tried to sync subscription tracks to its memory card, and was not successful. I'll be trouble shooting that very soon, as that is the main thing I want to do with an 8gb micro sdhc card now available at NewEgg for $75. I have been seeking through many forums about this topic, and can say that I've read at least 6 posts from folks who seem knowledgeable that it is absolutely doable. Will post back if I get it working soon. |
