ht820 is nasty
I am so pissed. I got the 820's thinking they would actually sound good.... hahahahahahahahahahahahahaha high quality audio my butt.
Maybe I'm picky, but the high end on these sound like crap, no matter what bitrate the source is. and this is coming direct from the PC using a Motorola BT adapter supporting a2dp. Never ever again unless it's comparable to wired headphones. A POS in my book |
After countless hours of trial/error - I got lucky(?) by way of reinstalling older version of xcpuscalar..and BT stereo now works with everything, including audio books. :-)
It doesn't make any sense to me, but I don't really care. Even when I reboot the xcpuscalar stays active in the Task Manager and the audio comes through. This is the trial version of xcpuscalar 2005 ver 2.03. It's a quick download, worth a shot before taking drastic measures! No need to make any changes on it, just installing it did the trick! Headset BT activation attempts to open dial pad each time though... but no big deal to me, the audio gateway remains open after closing the phone app. (rom version: Colonel 3.3 with twist 2/13/07) |

Poor audio quality
Okay, so can we have some voting here? Who thinks the audio quality coming out of the HT-820s sounds like ass-in-a-can? The lows and mids are good and tolerable, respectively...but the highs are so bad, I can't listen to anything - it almost hurts to hear sound reproduced in such horrific fashion!
Please tell me there are others who have used A2DP, heard of this problem, and solved it - please please please...I don't want A2DP to suck! ./prayer |
Add another vote to HT820 = ass-in-a-can.
Not sure what other headsets sound like, so I can't really compare. Also, I find the quality tolerable, but I don't use it much at all. The headset is too bulky in my opinion. Some have had luck getting better quality changing various registry settings. However, if you want a more low tech solution you could also hold the headphones tighter to your ear. It actually improves it by a noticable margin. |
I have been playing with the plantronics 590a on sprint 6700 and only get mono in both ears. Bitrate seems to be for headset settings though stereo headset is selected deselect handsfree and it won't function-how do I pump up the fidelity?

Guys it is not the HT820's fault, its the stack software. It isn't using the full bandwidth alotted under the A2DP specification. I have tried three different headsets using the hack, and then tested the same headsets with a dongle that provides true A2DP from my PC, world of difference.
I have not personally tried the Widcomm stack hack, but from what I can tell there is still no true A2DP (HiFi) hack for the PPC6700 or any of the HTC PDAPhones. Is there anyone out there that can honestly claim to be using A2DP on their 6700's where the sound is as good or better than FM Stereo in their cars? Real A2DP on a good headset sounds as good or better than FM stereo, it should actually sound as good as CD digital, but I am not holding out for that. And thanks to Wideawake for the hack in this thread, it is useful for audiobooks, talk shows and as a proof of concept. The_Omni |
Sorry to bring this back up, but I cannot get this to work with using Colonels 3.5? any suggestions? also cant get bttoggle to work

Im using the Clean & Simple for Sprint rom, does anyone know if this was included in that? I paired my Anycom headset and it shows Wireless Stereo. However when I play something it stutters badly.. I tried playing the same mp3 from miniSD and from the actual internal storage. I was also using WMP. I will look for a differnt player to try. Thanks!

I'm using the bluesonic HS889 which is a stereo headset with hands free capabilities. The dongle has a stereo jack so you can swap in your higher quality ear buds if you so choose. It has a built in spring that easily clips onto dress shirts and T's.
It works great with the 6700 listening to music and switching over to picking up an incoming call and then switching back to music again. I've used them both with the "sprint clean and simple load" and the new kitchen load. Also, they work well with voicecommand and retails for between $49 or $59. I've seen them on ebay and sometimes you can order direct bluesonic. http://www.huey-chiao.com/show.asp?id=33&pb_id=0107# There is a problem with stereo quality and it's not the fault of the headset. The BT sterero sound appears to be very quantized (sounds like the first implementation of mp3 from years back). This has to do with the apache's BT stack (or I guess MSFT's stack). I know it's not a problem with the headphones cause I pair them with my laptop and the sound is amazing! I highly recommend these headsets and I'm holding out for a better day when someone figures out these stereo bluetooth / quality issues. [/img]http://upload7.postimage.org/643463/hs889.jpg |
A2DP
Having problems getting my custom ringtones to play though my bluetooth stereo headset (Pulsar 260), it keeps going to the pulsar ringtone. Shouldn't the A2DP hack override this ringtone?
|
which custom ROMs are best for bluetooth stereo?
Which custom ROMs are best for A2DP stereo bluetooth? I am thinking of getting Motorola S9 headphones.
thanks for any advice. |
I get a high pitched whine when I'm listening to music through the a2dp connection between my 6700 and my Kyocera TXCKT10161. I have done multiple ROM installs to see if it was a specific rom problem but its not - its a MS BT stack problem. EDIT: Widcomm stack does not have this problem.
Is there anything that can be done to get rid of the extra noise? I'm using the Widcomm stack on my 6700 but I really want to have my headset connection work too. |
I'm new here, and I've been doing massive research on this trying to find something that works... but no such luck. I have a StereoMoto DC800 Bluetooth Home Stereo Adaptor... it works FINE with other phones, and my brothers TyTn... and I just did the Tor_A2DP... and when I paired my device, it showed the features... now next to Serial, Wireless Stereo poped up... But still NOTHING! When I click and hold to open the sub menu, only Edit, Delete show up in black and in grey Set As Head Set.
Why? |
I've used the tor's on my 6700 and it works pretty well with my jabra 320s but choppy once in a while. Also my ringtone is replaced thru headset by jabras, and of course the volume sucks on phone and Media player. But all the buttons work.

Ok, well I just finished my first rom update recently. The Kirvin Stock 3.5. Now it works, but the music plays really choppy. Skipps like its a cd that has been skated on. Any idea's as to what I can modify or install to get perfect sound and playback out of this? My phone is linked to my car stereo and I kinda would like it to actually work right. I didn't upgrade in technology to experience that age old feeling.

To all the folks who are experiencing stuff like skipping, high-pitched whine, no stereo, inconsistent music speed/pitch, etc - I have found it is essential to examine and adjust one or more registry settings (this seems to be true for most/all WM devices, depending on what the creator of the ROM put in there). Search ppcgeeks or xda-developers for some of the following strings and see what has worked for people:
UseJointStereo BitPool MinSupportedBitPool MaxSuppportedBitPool AudioGateway\Capability Bta2dpsnd\Priority256 There seem to be some pretty standard recommendations out there for all of these except the BitPool ones. Getting your BitPool settings right can be tricky in my experience as it seems to be influenced by a number of factors. One of the most important factors is what BitPool setting your headset likes best (not standard across headsets), and there seem to be others as well (like which media player, type of encoder and what bitrate of your music files, etc). Something that has worked well for me - instead of using a single BitPool value (which may not be right for your headset), don't use that reg value at all (delete BitPool if it is there), and instead, start by using the MinSupportedBitPool and MaxSupportedBitPool values to create a range (your WM device and headset will negotiate a mutually agreeable BitPool to use within this range). Then adjust as follows: increase the Min value to increase quality/reduce high-pitched whine, and decrease the Max value to reduce skipping and inconsistent music pitch. Min of 30 and Max of 58 should be reasonable values to start with. Of course, if you have replaced your MS Bluetooth stack with one of the hacked Widcomm ones, all bets are off (I haven't tried the Widcomm and dont know what reg entries it might be sensitive to). And as always, YMMV... |
ringtone on phone
hey would you know by chance how to get the ringtone to sound on the phone instead of the bt headset?
Thanks Mark |
Awessome
The download for the ppc6700 A2DP worked perfectly! There is on thing that I had to figure out that was not in the instructions. I am not sure if someone already posted this because I did not read the whole forum, but after the phone resets you have go to your bluetooth connection setting, go to you devices and tap and hold on the new device model number, then an option will come up to allow you to use the stereo setting. After that you do not have to do anything. It will work both ways. I may have miss interprited where the person who wrote the instructions stated to make sure the stereo option was checked because I had both checked in which case you may be able to skip the whole thing that I stated. With the in comming calls it worked great! I just pressed the talk button, but when I tried to use the voice dial it was not so great the device would recognize what I was saying and start the dial then stop while in the beginning. Normaly I use a Moto H700 and it is good, but the sound quality from the person on the other end they said it is a lot better on this Moto Stereo bluetooth
