Question I've got at good one for you guys, cannot install .cab files

No kidding, for some reason, when I go to install a cab file, the install window comes up just fine, but it just sits there and spins without any progress in the progress bar. Does the same with any cab, even cabs Ive had for years that I know are good. Hard reset the phone twice before flashing with a completely different rom, same result.

I'm pretty good with these phones, but I cant imagine why this is happening!

Any help is greatly appreciated!

well... I can tell you this... anytime its ever spun like that on me it was because the .cab file was incomplete or corrupt... could it be the possibility that its not the phone but that all the .cab's are corrupt? Possibly something happened to your computer?

As I said previously, I hard reset twice and re-flashed with completely different rom, and tried several different cab files, several of which ive used for a long time, yes Im sure it is not the cab that is bad..

I wish it was that simple....

Any more Ideas?

huh? The only way to rule out that it's not the cab files is to test it on a different phone (today). Just because they worked 6 years ago or yesterday doesn't mean they aren't corrupt today.
Things to consider, are attributes set at read only, is the storage card formatted correctly, is it corrupt, try moving cabs straight to device, does installation via any method work -such as exe's using activesync.

the cabs Im trying to install work on my Mogul. I got them from someone who owns a 6700 and work just fine for him. 2 of the cabs I've already installed on this particular device successfully. It just simply stopped installing any and every cab, dosent matter how new or old, I've used this same device for 1.5 years. Didnt drop it, Get it wet, or do anything that would be a "culprit", for it not being able to install anything to it that wasnt already in the romflash. I also tried 3 different roms. I know my way around these little devices pretty well, and I cant think of any reason why this could be happening....

thanks for the help, that is all stuff I've tried, any more Ideas?

Intersetingly - this guy is a friend of mine and the other 6700 he's talking about it mine...haha. He's tried hard-resting it a few times & still nothing installs on it. I think he's built a couple different ROMS for it too (using latest kitchen) and still gets stuck with the same freakn problem...weird huh?

When i first got my mogul i had an error msg that would pop up when trying to dl cab files but i later found out it was not a problem with the cab itself but with my connection at the time... what your going thru is totally different it seems.

I just played around with his phone for about 10 minutes. Making a long story short, it appears to be an issue with the storage card.
a) run install from storage card -> sits forever, never installs.
b) copy install from storage card to main memory -> sits forever, never installs.
c) copy install from storage card to main memory, remove storage card -> works fine.

strange you can copy files from the storage card just fine, but once you have the install moved to main memory - you have to remove the storage card prior to launching the install or it just sits there saying 'installing...' blah blah blah
