Im so fed up ...

With my new 6700

I just got it shipped in from the Sprint store .

I had the headset jam again so I took it back last week and they did not have any in stock so they ordered a new one

And then about a week later it came in today =]

I was sooo excited because I got to keep everything minus the leather case .. oh well I already have one .

So before I went to the store I backed up my phone with SPB Backup and after I got the new phone ran out to the car and restored it..

I was sooo pissed because no matter how many times I restored it the phone restored and I hard reseted about 4 times ..

And my oh my it takes so long to update and initialize .

So I did a custom restore with some things and all I got was the contacts back but then none of the programs are in the programs menu and all my registry hacks and themes did not make it onto the phone .

I soft reseted like a million times and now all it does is log on .. windows mobile splash and then the top bar loads up in black because it was a black theme before and the splash screen does not go away

I cant even use my phone and I do not even want to do my phone all over again ..

ARGH

any advice? and thank you for reading all of my writings =]

That's because you're trying to restore a previous version of the phone to a newer version. The ROM must be an updated one. Trust me...I did this just 2 nights ago with trying to upgrade my wife's 6700 ROM and the same thing that's happening to you happened to me whenever I tried to do a complete restore. I suggest you only restore the contacts and calendar. Everything else you're just going to have to bite the bullet and reinstall.

I agree, that's what activesync is for...

curious why do you hate activesync?

I only use it for calender and contacts but it works great for that.

also a general question about phone backups. I have found that the only time I have ever needed to restore was after some type of upgrade, and instead of dealing with all the incompatibilities of that it was faster just to reinstall my apps. Now to that end I do keep a log of any changes and a list of all software currently installed, but as far as a backup, just seems like heartache in the making.

i never have time to use activesync and sit down at my computer so I downloaded SPB Backup and it worked the first time but now I have a newwer Rom and it doesnt restore except for the contacts so I just did not want to lose the PIM information .

You can still use SPB backup just not between ROM updates. Maybe you could keep the CAB files for installation backed up instead ;-)

Hi guys, I am a fresh man here and so interest in the topic discussed here. Just wondering why you guys didn't give Sprite Backup a try for the restore after the ROM upgrade. As far as I know, Sprite Backup is the only backup utility which can perform a Restore after you upgrade your ROM. And also they have a very detailed instructions from this link;

It is worth to have a go with Sprite:)

Happy new years!

Sprite Backup does the same thing so you're mistaken. (That's the program I used). Why would it be any different if both programs are backing up the same thing (system files, registry, program files, etc.)?

I didnt know that I was getting a phone with a newer rom version than that previous I had .

Wow 3 6700s in 5 Months =P
