typing issues when keyboard is slid out

When i try to type text messages, or anything, with the keyboard slid out, it will not let me input anyting, and randomly inserts differetn numbers and charecters. the directional buttons will also stop working. I will restart and it will do nothing. then it will all of a sudden just start working again. i thought it may be a memory problem and cleared some internal memory, but it just happens randomly. any suggestions? anyone else have this problem???

if you press the command key twice, it puts the phone in command-lock, so only the special characters are typed. Press the command button again to go back to normal.

this happens to me on occasion, and sometimes certain keys will not work. I soft reset and then no problems again for a while.

its not the command button, because it will just type numbers without me even hitting buttons?

me either, hardware related possibly?

If it were hardware wouldn't it do it all the time? I mean, sliding it out doesn't "activate" the keyboard, it's always active. What I mean is, is that if he had a text message open and just sets his phone down, keyboard slid or not, it should enter characters.

Depends on where you are typing. If you are typing on the today screen the top row will ONLY allow you to type numbers. If in Word or a webpage, then using the top row will result in the letters unless you press the command button first.

uh-oh. this isnt good when nobody knows. its crazy it will happen, and then suddenly no longer be a problem.

Right, I would say open a text message and click the cursor in the actual text entry area then set your phone down for an hour and see if it does it.
