Yeah, I'd love a tutorial on ROM cooking. I see the XDA guys flashing AKU 3.5 to their GSM phones and it makes me sigh.

edit: I got excited when I saw an upload on the XDA FTP site...after flashing my phone, it was definitely a newer version of WM. New splash screen (unless it was cooked too?) marked "Windows Mobile - Direct Push Technology"

I then calibrated my screen, skipped the password step and was asked if I wanted to setup an email account (AKU3?). I clicked next and it crashed :( I soft reset and tried again, skipping the email step and it asked me to tap on the screen to begin or whatever it asked....crashed again. So back to yesterday's SPB backup and the beta reflash. *sigh* Something to look forward to, I guess :)

Results:
  • Spb Benchmark index = 115
    CPU index = 625
    File system index = 44.6
    Graphics index = 2165
    ActiveSync index = 1152
    Platform index = 181
    Write 1 MB file (KB/sec) = 30.2

    Copy 10 KB x 100 files (KB/sec) = 15.3
Directory list of 2000 files (thousands of files/sec) = 8.87
    Internal database read (records/sec) = 1559
    Graphics test: DDB BitBlt (frames/sec) = 202
    Graphics test: DIB BitBlt (frames/sec) = 32.8

    Pocket Word document open (KB/sec) = 7.74
Pocket Internet Explorer HTML load (KB/sec) = 6.99
Pocket Internet Explorer JPEG load (KB/sec) = 136
File Explorer large folder list (files/sec) = 643
    Compress 1 MB file using ZIP (KB/sec) = 26.7
    Decompress 1024x768 JPEG file (KB/sec) = 626
    Arkaball frames per second (frames/sec) = 156
    CPU test: Whetstones MFLOPS (Mop/sec) = 0.079
    CPU test: Whetstones MOPS (Mop/sec) = 57.3
    CPU test: Whetstones MWIPS (Mop/sec) = 5.08
Memory test: copy 1 MB using memcpy (MB/sec) = 106
ActiveSync: upload 1 MB file (KB/sec) = Test Not Run
ActiveSync: download 1 MB file (KB/sec) = Test Not Run
So I looked at Spb's website, and these numbers are horrible compared to an T-Mobile MDA 2. Graphics scores are good, but file access is horrible.

Only application installed after a hard reset and the config above was Spb Benchmark v1.60. Is there anything we can do about this? Or is this just my device? My guess, fragmentation maybe?

Anyways this is half of what is needed to compair. I need a stock test (and I really don't feel like flashing my phone for a downgrade :))

**EDIT**
Hello I was reading quikly and am not shure if you are using any of the SD reg hacks posted in a cabfile here:

http://pdaphonehome.com/forums/ppc-6...stable-15.html
Suggested reg hacks to speed up SD and eminate DSOD issues start on page 12 of that thread.

Anyway I see I came late into this thread and Just wanted to also say goodluck to Wideawake in making this the best ROM out there!
:)

i just wanna say thanks for your work......

Maxx134 01-07-2007 06:20 AM

Hi guys

Wow this site has me Keeping busy, as almost every thread is an important read!

To Wideawake:

In page 12 you say:
"Ok guys, Ive got my fingers crossed I can roll out a public beta 2.0 as early as sunday of this week. It looks like there will be no .NET 2.0 but Im working on the video mail issue and other suggestions made in this thread. Just thought I would let you guys know. I know its been awhile but I have been trying to get 2.0 to work and well with all the other things going on in my life right now, I have been tied down.
~Mike"

My question is will you be implementing in the public beta 2.0, the suggestion By Sonny in other site? He says:
"Wideawake on www.ppcgeeks.com worked on getting an AKU 2.2 up and running for the 6700, and I asked him if he could cook up a rom with the PNPUnloadDelay and PNPIODelay settings at 5000. I am hopeful that this will help.
-Sonny"
Just curious about that but mayby the altel version doesnt need this?
Anyway thanks for your contribution that wil shurely help all interested.
:D

Wideawake 01-07-2007 07:25 AM

yea I played with those values mentioned by sonny, and will be mor than likey included both values adjusted because only adjusting one seemed to make the DSOD problem worse. And thank fo the compliments. :D

I've ditched most of the SD hack because the device has become very unstable. Mainly that the SD card takes minutes in some cases to be recognised. So I have begain testing very small changes to try and determin which change was giving me such problems.

When the SD card worked... The speed was good though. I've knida slowed my changes over the weekend though since Mike has promised us a new beta soon (sounds like today even). So I'll be re-benchmarking the same Extended ROM when he releases it.
