So is everyone saying that the GPS in the 6700 is accessible now and working for some or do you have external GPS hardware plugged in and working ?

Which Google maps are you using since my mobile installed version doesn't have a selection for "My Location"...?

Could someone give some details as to how they have their GPS software setup and installed ?

Thanks...

apache needs an external gps hardware to work with GPS service.

No, this isn't GPS, it's a purely cellphone-tower-based position finder that isn't terribly accurate to begin with, but which doesn't work at all on the 6700, apparently. There must be a name for it, but I don't know what it is. Within Google Maps 2.0, it's enabled for display on the map but only for certain phones (including "many windows mobile" devices, although we're not at all sure exactly which ones).

Navizon apparently uses something much like the positioning function in Google Maps 2.0.

My bet is it is only for GSM phones like everything else.

yeh get the same message ur location is temporarily......and this happens even if my data is not active ..so i guess it doesnt even try to locate it.. im in india btw.. read it in the paper this morning that this service is mean for all phones with google maps. in it and has been started since wednesday.. press 0 to see ur location. i guess its not working yet or sumthing probably.. or its not able to access that part of the phone which enables it to send info to the google map..
maybee we need to enable that part of the ph to allow that information to be collected by the google map software .. the article says it doesnt collect any phone numbers though..

I am also getting myl:N/A on my Sprint 6700 w/ WM6. I don't think it is a DB issue or that aGPS is turned off on these phones. I subscribe to the Sprint Family Locator and two of the phones on the account are 6700's and SFL locates these phones just fine with an accuracy of within a few yards, but varies depending where the phone is. But that's expected with triangulation.

I think it is an issue of the application hooking into the aGPS hardware on the Sprint 6700's because I believe it works on the Verizon 6700 phones.

Anyway, external BT GPS and M$ WLS is the bomb, specially the latest version with voice recognition. Don't get me wrong with Google, but is it behind the ball on WM maps. On the other hand, it is my desired map software on the desktop. The day they bring "drag to change route" onto the WM platform, that will be the day I will convert to GMM.
