Kirvins clean and Simple 3.5 aku frankenstein

Hey all,

C&S aku 3.5 is mostly wm5 right? I should still be loading up the wm5 version of software, or is it ok to use wm6 versions?

?? Kirvin's ROMs have always been 100% WM5 because the kitchens he built them with were 100% WM5. There are no WM6 components at all.

I have been a quiet appreciating member of this site for a little while now. I was around back when these hacked roms first came about. I suppose the first thing I should say is, thank you to helmi, and EVERYONE that has helped make, test, and/or host the programs that have turned the 6700 into a fun product. Having said that, luv2chill has come off as an angry, jealous, egomaniac. luv2chill seems to have taken this rom to heart and must truly feel that he/she has all rights to the direction it takes. You (luv2chill) are talented and hard working, that has been proven by all the work you have done in adjunct to helmi. However, you come off as a baby when anyone brings up kirvin's c&s. Of course, my feelings aren't only in reference to this thread, and I'm sure there are many others that agree with this. I hope that your actions aren't pushing too many people away from such a great board (thanks wideawake).

meatball,
Nice first post. Doesn't it feel good to contribute finally, after lurking (and of course downloading whatever interested you) for 13 months?

On this subject you're just plain wrong. It's apparent you base your opinion on a few contentious threads where others - not luv2chill - showed their asses. A baby?! Come on! If you were to review the 1503 posts by luv2chill in the year since he registered, you would find every one of them to be rational and adult and 1450+ where he really went out of his way to share knowledge that he didn't have to share - all to help less-experienced people down this path of making our devices better.

In fact, go back and look again at that last post, the one that just set you off. No offense to Turdlarsen, but asking that question, "....aku3.5 is mostly WM5, right?" on a site named PPCGeeks is like asking for red wine in a biker bar. It seems to happen a lot around here lately, but Luv2chill's response was characteristically restrained.

It's late, I don't mean to be offensive, and I really don't want to see this turn into another flame war, so I'll just be quiet now.

It does feel good, thank you. 1503 post and every single one rational and adult. I'm more impressed with your record keeping. I'm sure you, unlike me apparently, are voicing the opinion of everyone on this board and not just "a few contentious threads where others..." you get the point.

Thought I might chime in on this as a fairly new guy who has gained LOTS of knowledge from this forum. Even though Kirvin's C&S may not have real WM6 components, there certainly similarities in the look, ie bootup screen, ability to use the HTC Home customizer, etc. So to some new people (including me) his question was legitimate. Meatball may have taken the response the wrong way, but the answer is not as cut and dry as Luv2Chill in his infinite wisdom may have assumed. My2$

I think the question was perfectly legitimate. I did not intend my answer to be taken with any offense at all. I was just stating a fact--the WM5 kitchens all used WM5 components in as far as the OS itself is concerned (which is what the OP was asking about). Add-ons like HTC Home and splash screens are inconsequential in that regard. I hope that makes it clear and I'm sorry if that didn't come through in my response. I try my best around here but no one's perfect, right?

I don't think meatball's post is worth responding to because it's so completely off-base--my comments here had absolutely nothing to do with Jeff Kirvin whatsoever. I would have said the same exact thing if the poster had asked about colonel's ROM or jbabey's ROM or whoever. But hey, welcome to the site! I hope you'll consider contributing something.

Wow, Luv, nicely handled. For the OP, AKU 3.5 is a version of WM5, and thus an AKU 3.5 ROM is WM5. Just like Windows 98 SE was still Windows 98, AKU 3.5 is still WM5. WM6 splash screen or any programs loaded in are not parts of the operating system, and so an AKU 3.5 ROM is 100% WM5 as Luv2chill stated. WM6 ROM's are now available and can even be easily created by any user here who chooses to do so, thanks in large part to the efforts of Luv2chill. So as opposed to bashing him, it may be a good idea to learn from him instead.
