as for the rom, i tried to update it, but when i was in the process, the ppc screen went dark and i guess it shut off. i really dont think its fixable. tried to hard reset and it wont reset. it reads on the screen(no backlight) serial v.1.00

A failed ROM update is recoverable. Try this:


1. disable active sync and unplug the USB from the device
2. Press and hold in this order Power->Voice Memo->reset->release all
3. device should say serial
4. plug in USB, should now say USB
5. Make sure device shows up in device mgr
6. activate .exe (New ROM update)
