Question 2 Questions regarding networking and LAN

1. How do I browse network shared folders on the network that I am on using my PPC-6700? I tried finding my shared folders on my PPC, but i cannot, so is there a way to do this? Is there a program I need for this?

2. How do I issue command prompt commands such as "ping" on my PPC 6700? Is there a program i need for this?

it would be cool if i could do either of these things, thanks

Pancho,
The native file explorer won't do this. Get yourself Total Commander, then enter the network name of the computer you're trying to access in the address bar - "\\computername\". Get in there and you'll find the shared folders. Good luck. tmb

Command line - got nuthin....

Yeah you can use Total Commander or Resco Explorer (I use Resco but have used TC) and if you want to ping (which I cant imagine why unless you plan on playing jokes on someone) then look to Socket WiFi Companion.

For 1. you can totally browse network folders on the default file explorer, I've done it on WM5 and on wm6, it even allows you to put id, password, and domain in. Wm6 I had to enable network connection under the file menu it tells you to soft reset then after that just type in the \\computername\share. WM5 I think I just typed it in and it worked.

Didn't remember this from WM5. Learning something new every day.

Well, Im sorry, I was referring more to mapping drives. With the OEN explorer you would need to know PC name/drive letter/profile name ect. Thats way too much for me. I simply map it and its there forever. But then again, forever may be an issue to some people.
