Need Help Flashing My Ppc6700 To Cricket

I have a PPC6700 Alltel Branded Pda that I want to flash for full cricket use.
I have been searching since last night only to find posts saying search for the instructions. I have had zero luck finding any sort of tutorial whatsoever. I did find a like to Apache WM6 CE OS 5.2.1620 (Build 18125.0.4.2) For cricket but after loading that on my device it still doesnt seem to be FLASHED for cricket as when making a 611 call it still rings to alltel not cricket.

PLEASE HELP OR POINT ME IN RIGHT DIRECTION =D>

Memike,
Due to the leading-edge, dynamic nature of this forum, you are unlikely to find a tutorial for anything so esoteric here - by the time someone gets around to writing a tutorial, chances are it will be obsolete.
I saw your post, clicked on the search button at the top of the forum, and did an Advanced Search for threads with "Cricket" in the title. 14 came up since June, at least half of them had a number of posts, and one seemed to have the full solution and links to other information on Howard Forums (probably your tutorial), if you were willing to follow them.
In short, you're being lazy.

I use the Sprint Branded PPC6700 on Cricket Wireless, and it wasn't easy getting everything working properly.

The most important part is to get the Cricket PRL installed on the phone.

Download the Cricket PRL. (Google search)

From there you need to move that file to a folder on your phone via. PC. I just put it in the Documents folder, it was continent. You don't have to use a data cable, you could put it on a storage card and use it from there. Loading the PRL file on the other hand is going to be something totally different. For sprint, which isn't very well documented because most people use the XV6700 from Verizon, Verizons SPC code (000000) is pretty well known and easily found if changed, Sprints MSL code isn't something published and is different on every phone. I found on the PPC-6700 from Sprint the MSL had something to do with the ESN of the handset and I found a program that'll convert the HEX ESN into the MSL code, which is required to make Provisioning changes to the phones. This utility doesn't seem to work with the other sprint phones I've tried.

You'll have to figure out what its going to take for the AllTEL phone.

Sprint you go into the phone mode and type ##775#SEND to access Manual PRL update. This is where you need teh MSL code. ##778#SEND gets you into the Provisioning menus of the Sprint model, which you can view everything except Security settings without MSL code, but to edit anything requires the code.

I guess give those two programming sequences out and see if they're anything similar, but you'll likely have to crack it yourself or find someone who has successfully converted an AllTel model.

There are several forums on the internet for Cricket conversion assistance and other hacking and I'll list the two I visit most. All I can say is Search extensively using the sites search feature BEFORE you post a new topic asking for help.

As of right now the only features that work on my PPC6700 on Cricket are Voice, Web browsing, and Text messages. MMS messaging isn't something that seems supported on this handset with Sprints ROM. I'm not brave enough to try and flash a new ROM onto the phone so I'll likely just not deal with MMS (picture messaging) at all.

Good luck!

I would honestly check out HowardForums. My first phone that I setup for Cricket I had some major problems with and wouldn't OTA at all. Don't even recall for sure what fixed it, but the guys at HF helped a ton.

You need to bring the phone to a cricket store and purchase the $55 plan, tell them your phone is unlocked and on their network, they will the add the phones unique identifier # (can't remember what its called). They do this on their computer so if anyone tells you about they need a hour or 2 give them the finger. Once the number is added to thrie system you are good to go.
if you already have a account tell them you eant to use the 6700 with that account they will add it.

Is it possible to just call cricket to do this?

When I called customer care to do the ESN change when I got my 6700 I couldn't even understand the woman talking on the phone. It was bad enough she was really quiet but her accent was so strong she could have proposed to me and I had no clue. Sad, but whatever. Guess thats what I get when I wanna pay 50$ a month for phone service instead of 130.
