WM6 ROM sucks battery dry in calls???

yes, I am experiencing shortened batt life with Helmi WM6-VZGuy ver 6c as well. Seems like 30%-40% less battery life.

I went back to the WM5 builds, but I seem to recall the screen NOT turning off during calls under WM6.

I've got my device set with these and I've been around 70% for the past 3 hours or so and have made some calls.

Check your backlight timeouts, your phone backlight should turn off during a call within whatever time you have set for it.... if the backlight is staying on the whole time, you'll be drawing an extra 100ma or more depending on how bright you like your backlight.

Hmmm... I just called myself from my home phone. Normally, you'd not be looking at your screen while talking - in the call, the backlight stayed on for well over a minute. I wonder if its not blanking during a call ever?

Here's something you can do if you really do want to save some juice. Download and install http://www.vijay555.com/?Releases:VJEschaton - map the displayoff link to a hard button (I use the ie button) - then you can just hit that hard button while you're in a call, and hey presto your screen is off. Not just the backlight, but the whole screen. Hit the power button to bring the screen back on.

I went in and got my batteries tested. A stock and an extended battery. Both are showing bad on the tester. Both seem to have went bad after flashing to the new rom.

The extended battery was i nthe phone and the stock on the cradle when I updated the ROM.

Had to buy a new battery and it seems fine after a week. Love the rom.

Could be a coincidence. Sure is weird though.

I'll give that one a try.... and hell... just making sure I give credit where I found it... 6 degrees of ppcgeeks I guess. I did a quick search here but didn't find it.

Good advice, although your current number is a lot higher than I measured with acbPM a month ago. Here were the basic numbers, with nothing else running, radios off:
(BL Level/mA) - 0/38, 1/54, 2/57, 5/66, 10/81.
Basically, the lowest backlight level (which I find suitable for most indoor conditions) draws around 15 mA, and the draw increases by around 3 mA per step up to the maximum Backlight draw of around 45 mA. (I subtracted out the 38 mA baseline in these summary figures).

By the way, no extra software is needed - when you are in a call, pushing the power button on top of the phone turns off the screen while you continue to talk.

anyone got a clue what this one is.

did a search and only the other 3 are there (and now changed)

UpGraded to Helmi_WM6_Apache_Kitchen_071107_1.exe on 11-08-07 from 3.5. and radio 1.43 a couple weeks prior (noticed only a slight increase batt drain with the newer radio).

First day of use (WM6 on the 09th) about 4 calls (not more than 5 min each) and I was at 20 percent batt and hadn't used it at all till the calls. Major difference from 3.5. (WiFi off, BT off, Beam off)

Will see what the only 3 I could change will do, and let you all know.

Thanks, it does seem to be a VPN thing - Layer Two Tunneling Protocol (L2TP) and enterprise is not in my build.
