POutlook and 1X internet not working!

Reset my phone and when it turned back on i noticed my two gmail accounts had dissappeared from poutlook(this happens once or so every few months). No sweat...so i re-set them up and go to download emails (this is where it will download all the messages over the last several days depending on what you set it to keep messages in the inboox for.) But now, once i check mail in one of my accounts it keeps the wifi and standard 1x from working....it will go to dial the modem phone line by accessing the net and letting it dial the standard +1 425 #777...this will usually result in the phone making a connection and downloading....but now it doesnt. it gives me a message saying...the answering modem has diconnected and to check my connection settings and change them if needed.
I have gone back and checked them and they look fine. I cant seem to figure out what is wrong but now all other internet functions wont work till i soft reset..(egress, pie +, orb, etc). i am pretty sure i got my gmail settings right (pop.gmail.com and smtp.gmail.com). what else could it be and why is it keeping the wifi from even working ? I need to get this working as i leave on a business trip tomorrow and need my email working. thanks

You really think it is junkware....why would them being there not have caused this ever before witha ton of heavy use over the past months? I am a bit worried ot hard reset bc i havent backed up for at least two weeks and i think i will have to backup before i hard reset to make sure i dont lose anything which might bring the problem back if when i restore.
