Don't Want To Do A Hard Reset

Guys for the past month about 3 times my phone like some froze on the WM load screen. 3 times rebooted fine, this last time up to yesterday it wouldn't sync to my vista at home or my xp at work, I know it's not the usb b/c it was 2 different usb cables. I was about to take it back to WM5 but I couldn't even get to the USB so I hard reset again and even loaded the extras and now it can sync at work, still can't at home but anyway, now that I loaded the full thing, my text msg is doing the same thing like some of you guys post about the reply not showing the tele # but the 1st text.

Has anyone figured out away to fix that w/o having to do a hard reset and not loading the extra's. I've been on this site and another most of the day yesterday w/ my eyes getting crossed, so unless there is and I missed that thread can someone point me to it please.

PS: w/ my registry hacks does the backup save thoses also? I would hate to have to do them all over again...
