Here are some instructions to get you up and running with my new rom...
First, go ahead and download the v.2 rom specific to your carrier(which I believe you said "generic") from my first post. Now, you will want to make sure your data is completely backed up on your device. If so, go ahead and place your 6700 in bootloader mode. Do this by holding the voice record button and power button simultaneously while you press the reset button with your stylus. The backlight should go off and it should say "serial" at the top of the screen. Now go ahead and plug the phone it via usb to an XP machine(not vista!). Navigate to the compressed folder you downloaded containing my rom and extract it. Open up the folder and run "UpgradeUt". Follow the steps, wait for the rom to complete, then hard reset your device and your good to go. Enoy! I hope this helped. If you need any more help, feel free to pm me anytime.

Rob, are these still the same directions for v4? I thought I read somewhere that you were taking the carrier customizations out, and I thought I saw someone else mention that it now works in Vista?

i just upgrade my ppc 6700 but at the reset it comes with an error message saying "The file sddaemon" cannot be opened. " and also I can't not see my contacts

Does this work with Vista? the rom is not upgrading for me. I put my 6700 back to stock from Helmi's and it still won't upgrade. When it gets to the screen that says you are going to change from THIS version to THAT version..there are no numbers there.. then it says the this utility is not for this device..any sugestions? I do have the Sprint version..

Updating to last version

I am trying to update to version (build) 4 and I get the same error message (150), saying that the update is not for my device. Is there anything wrong with the file?
The version I have right now is 2, and works very smoothly, and that's exactly why i want to get version 4 t work.
I am using vista and everything works fine (mobile device center)
Thanks!

You don't need to run Helmi's upgrade. Rob's is a stripped down version of Helmi.

Helmi did a great (unbelievable, actually!) job getting the ball rolling. Rob's just picked up helmi's ball and run with it.

Thanks, perfect answer. Appreciate it.

Yes, same directions. Carrier customizations are not auto loaded on first boot, but they are still in the ext_rom. You don't need them anyway. The ones you need are built into WM6. lastly, someone did claim to flash successfully in Vista. I did not purposely do this, but hey, if it works... go for it. To be honest though, I'd stay in XP just to be safe until I can confirm otherwise.

Did you hard reset after the upgrade. You have to hard reset after flashing any rom or else things will go wrong. Also, you shouldn't be able to see your contacts. These rom updates wipe your phone clean, so be sure to BACKUP EVERYTHING before performing an upgrade.

Are you doing this in Vista? If so, switch to an XP box. I have not confirmed this working properly in Vista, although others claim it does.

You have to put the device into bootloader mode before starting the upgrade. Otherwise it won't work, or you run the potential risk of getting your device stuck in bootloader mode.

First, don't use Vista to flash roms as of now. I have not confirmed that it works properly. Second, make sure your device is in bootloader mode. It wont work otherwise.
