Helmi's Apache WM6 Service Pack 1 Update

Files removed until i can work on this further. Sorry guys, looks like it needs a little more work then i originally thought.

Quote:

This is a Service Pack I threw together with some of the fixes floating around for WM6 on the Apache. This is just meant to be an easy fix until the wm6 kitchen comes.

Please read all the way through this post before continuing with the install. If you have previously installed any of those individual fixes, i recommend uninstalling them first.

Fixes Included:
Wifi WPA-PSK Fix
911/EVDO arrow DialPad Fix
SDHC Drivers
Removed "Message Sent" SMS Notification (Not really a fix, but annoying none the less)
AD2P Fix (see below)
MSVC BT Announce Fix (see below)

Prerequisites:
Apache with WM6 installed
VoiceCommand ALREADY installed if you want the announce feature (this one is important!)
~3mb of free memory for the install (the files are actually ~800kb)

AD2P Fix (Only needed to complete if you use AD2P):

In order to complete this fix, you must use a registry editor and delete the two (and ONLY THESE TWO) following entries.

HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Bluetooth\A2DP\Settings:
"BitPool"
"MaxSupportedBitPool"

Due to the unfortunate limitations of WinCE Cab Manager, i cannot delete these entries with the cab without compiling some heavy duty setup dll file to go with it, and i dont have time for that.

MSVC BT Announce Fix (Only needed to complete if you use it)

Unfortunately, i wasnt able to split up the IDTransferV1 cab file to make it one install. not sure why it didnt work. So i have the install place that cab file in the root directory of the device. Please follow the directions below to finish the fix.

Quote:

Next you need to run the IDTransferV1.cab (located in root folder of device)
After install it may ask you to soft reset... this is fine.
Almost there.
Now go into file explorer and find the IDtransfer icon in windows/startmenu/programs
copy that file and go to windows/startup and paste the program in there.
Soft reset one more time.
Now when your phone reboots it is almost ready.
You will have IDTransfer come up and u need to check Enable and click on hide. If you ever soft reset you will have to repeat this process to keep IDTransfer running in the background.
Now to go your control panel and click on phone and set your ring type to ring and ringtone silent.
next we go to the control panel again and select voice command.
under voice command select phone and options.
check Announce incoming calls
click ok to save and again ok to save
close out of the control panel
soft reset
when IDTransfter comes up select enable and click ok.
Now go into your BT pairing and remove your existing BT device and then re-add it.
After that you should be in working order and the voice dial and call announce works fine.

Known Bugs:
Initial Release - Need to make everything one install. Still working on that.

So far it will include:
Wifi WPA-PSK Fix
911 Fix
AD2P Fixes

Suggestions? I hope to have this done next week sometime.

Perhaps you may want to add:

1. The SDHC drivers. As these memory modules keep getting larger and more inexpensive it is really a no-brainer upgrade. This should really be included in all base ROM's now.

2. Hopefully the workaround completed cab for the VC1.6 BT announce fix can also be included. I know there are a few people working on this.

and office 2007 support

edufur 10-05-2007 03:48 PM

i would reccomend not doing the office 2007 support update. it is quite bulky and would be better left for a core. the gain is few and far between and would better be left for people who absolutely need it... in which case, a separate install will suffice until it is mixed in with a new rom.

I second that, as it is quite bulky and the benefits are minimal. The Office 2007 update would be much better suited for a core/kitchen release.

I sencond that as well. Leave the 2007 out. Those that absolutly need it can add it in.

masters 10-05-2007 07:03 PM

What would be the difference for verizon users with Verizonguys Dev3..

gguruusa 10-05-2007 09:30 PM

Please title it differently. Helmi WM6 SP1 will confuse people if another test rom or a kitchen is released. I suggest using the original release description and hotfix rollup 1.

Wizzard 10-05-2007 09:46 PM

Has there been anything done for the inability to use the IR beam with WM6?

That would be something I would like to see added to the cab.

Thanks

InvincibleLiving 10-06-2007 09:14 AM

this is a great idea. i'll try to think of some other fixes that might need to be included.

ill be waiting for it..

smellEdawg 10-06-2007 12:09 PM

remove phone behavior tab off of htc home plug in - causes too much trouble.
Also, any fix for the windows media player landscape issue?

Radioman96p71 10-06-2007 02:54 PM

What about a few reg fixes... like the annoying text messages SUCESS message and maybe the message successfully sent popup? *thinks* there are a few reg fixes that are pretty universal maybe include those to save time? just my.02

sd_matto 10-06-2007 03:06 PM

All of the additional relevant tweaks from Verizonguy's ROM

Service pack should probably include the following (from Verizonguy's ROM):

_______________________
Changelog

2007.10.05
More optimizations & standardization.
-Dialer now has working 911, working ## codes, smartdialing, etc. A custom phone canvas module will eventually have to be created to properly use wm6's dialer as intended, but this will be functional and be what we're used to.
-Added wpa wifi fix from xda-developers site.
-Other fixes, but it's 3:22am and I'm tired.

2007.09.22
Fixes & optimization
-Fixed broken 911 and dialer issues from stock rom.
-Removed over 50 invalid registry entries and links from the stock rom.
-Several optimizations for speed and ease of use.
-fixed & restored standard hardware buttons
-fixed missing comm manager in AppButtons
-corrected voice speed dial registry entries
-enabled HTC Task Manager

2007.09.19
devel1 made available for public download. WM6 for the Apache is in the early development stage. It is not considered "production" or even a release so if you choose to use any WM6 rom at this point, understand you may not have full functionality or dependable service.

_____________________

Also, re apps that should be removed/added:

-Remove "trial" purchased software that required licenses: Resco File Explorer, Resco Registry, & Resco Update
-Added free applications: Total Commander (great free file explorer/manager), dotFred's Task Manager (UPX'd).
-Brought Voice dialing back, integrated free voice dialing into rom. (Haven't changed button functionality for it yet, available through programs menu for now & fully functional.

Hope that suggestion helps.

kasanova 10-06-2007 03:49 PM

Videonut 10-07-2007 10:16 AM

What are the issues with a2dp?
My BT stereo finally works with no MS squeel. The only issue I have is that my Lubix BT Stereo headset is still hard to connect but that seems to be Lubix's fault since most headsets connect fine.

I really have done a search, but it's hard when you're looking for "IR beam" and you need three words. Anyway, I have yet to switch to WM6 and I won't if I can't use IR since I have an IR stowaway keyboard that I use a lot. Can somebody point me to a post and/or thread? TIA - sheureka

Things that I ask?

In the following sp or kitchen there's no way to change the bluetooth client, to a widcomm stack? I returned from wm6 to 5 because bt audio sounds very choppy and impossible to hear, however with the widcomm works like a charm! no skipping even you enable the wifi (perfect for resco radio)

This sp1 resolved the issue that the apache hangs? when it happened, had to soft reset til 20 times a day the phone because dont receive calls

Where is voice commander available?

Live search from home resolved the qwerty issue? (123456 instead)

Message counter appeared?

sdhc driver dont interfere with normal minisd? dont having to soft-reset to get the minisd again up?

Gervy 10-12-2007 03:41 PM

Strait up - does this fix some of the freezsing issues?

2 Questions:

1) Does this fix the freezing issues? (Not the ones affiliated with HTC HOME/Weather
2) Is this service pack compatible with the Verizonguy releases?

fordomatic69 10-12-2007 04:17 PM

Tak, I can't find the IDTransferV1.cab file in the root of the device to fix the MSVC announce problem... I am running MSVC 1.6 US

I installed the SP today. Ran into 2 issues;
1.) After installing your cab, I let it reboot the device. I then went to the root folder to look for IDTransferV1.cab and could not find it. Searched the whole device, nothing of that sorts. So I found the cab elsewhere and loaded it accordingly and all is well. Should we not reboot after your install and then run that cab from the root?
2.) The dialer skin removed the label for "Contacts" from the left soft key. It still functions and pulls up contacts, but there is no label there. Is there a patch for that? I searched the other threads but couldn't find anything on this issue.

Thanks for all your work. Keep it coming...

Hi!!,

One question: Where I download the widcomm drivers?, Can you help me with this issue?

Thank you in advance!!

+1
Also, it seems to have deleted smartskey functionality. When I reinstalled it, I got my call history back, but the SpeedDials were messed up. The buttons on the left side were all transparent except for the numerals. And the SpeedDials were also using pictures courtesy of PhoneSuite, and they aren't there either. It also deleted all my picture speed dials (on the Today plugin) from PhoneSuite, but they were easily replaced.

Not sure that I like this dialer any more than the one on the Helmi WM6 ROM, but it's certainly not worse.
Is there a way to UNDO the changes or should I just use this mornings backup?
Update: Wow, this thing survived a Sprite restore.
I just tried to uninstall using Remove Programs and it looks like it broke VC.
I'm going to have to Hard reset and then restore.
Damnit.

Trident 10-12-2007 11:09 PM

Does this process really have to be repeated after every soft reset just to keep this running?? That's insane.

Wizard, this SP includes the fix in the following post, http://forum.ppcgeeks.com/showthread.php?t=9237 In the zip file for that fix are 3 cabs, one of which is the IDTransferV1.cab. I just extracted that one cab and ran it according to the instructions in THIS thread. The BT fixes are working fine for me now.

Cheers,
