WM6 with Voice Command Incoming Call Announcement
Is it correct in the few posts that have mentioned it that in WM6 with MS Voice Command 1.6 that the incoming announcement of the caller id does not work? Is that the case both from the phone and over BT?
This issue is critical in my decision as to whether to go with this upgrade (which I would like to try) as I cannot be without the caller id announcement of BT. If anyone can elaborate on this I'd appreciate it. Thanks. |
I have yet to get the announce to work at all on my xv6700 running WM6/VC1.6
the only thing it changed for me was instead of the default annoying ring my BT earpiece has, it now plays my phones assigned ringtones that I setup. |
That's what I was afraid to hear. I'd really like to go to WM6, but can't give up the caller ID annoucnement. Mine always played (WM5) the phone's ringtones -- in fact, I set it to a silent ringtone so I could hear the caller ID announcment.
I hope someone finds a way to get this working in WM6. |
its works randomly for me but its not wm6 its gota be something else because i had a dash with this and the announcements worked every time with out fail

Works fine for me. It announces over the phone, or bluetooth if turned on.

worked on WM5
I had it working fine on WM5, but i am bummed as i cannot figure out how to get it to work on WM6.
Help? i have thoroughly checked the VCM MS settings. Any other feedback? WM6 - Helmi Build on a PPC 6700. |
Although I haven't tried the WM6 Rom (waiting for the kitchen), I am using VC1.6 on my Titan and I can confirm there is no announcement there either.
This appears to be a problem with VC when running WM6 in general and is not specific to the Apache. |
WM6 Apache Fixes/Bugs thread may have your fix
Ok so i found a file in the WM6 Apache fixes/patches thread which is working for me on my WM6 Apache.
http://forum.ppcgeeks.com/showthread.php?t=7780 Does this work for anyone else? If so then we may have found our "band-aid" :-) |

Also, under phone I have "announce incoming calls" checked. EDIT: never mind, I think I figured it out. However, it works properly only sporadically. |
Hi meh123 - what did you figure out to make it work even sporadically? I have the announce incoming selected and the notifications is on phone and wired headset, and the only announce when free is not checked. Is there something else I'm missing b/c I can't get it to work? Also did you have to install any other files? I installed vc 1.6 and stupid of me expected it to work. :-P
|
Cano - which file did you find? Was it the IDTrasnfer file? I haven't loaded yet, but was wondering if there was a way to get it working without additional software. Thanks!

start -> settings -> voice command - Main Screen - Enabled (checked), password protected (checked). Under phone (click options) - Confirm when calling by name (checked), confirm when dialing by number (checked), announce incoming calls (checked). Under phone (notification options) - I have the radio button for announce notifications using blutooth hands free only selected. Nothing else. These are the settings that have worked for me 6700noobie. |
CanoSpinach -- what file are you referring to -- there's a lot of stuff in the thread you've linked to? Thanks.
|
Well, I can't seem to even get the phone speaker to announce the caller ID with WM6 and MSVC 1.6 -- and yes, it is set to announce it. Any further thoughts? Thanks.
|
I can't get mine to announce anything either. It works perfectly, except for the incoming announcements.
|
I hope someone finds a solution to this as I'd really like to use WM6.

http://forum.ppcgeeks.com/attachment...3&d=1188921962 This should be what your looking for. Its a fix for the Helmi WM6 Apache Bluetooth challenges. |
Thans Canospinach -- I'll look at that, though I don't know if it addresses my issue. I don't hear the MSVC caller id annoucement even from the phone speaker, so it is an MSVC issue, not a BT or IDTransfer issue.
|
Sorry i was a little tired when i posted....

Hope that clarifies, it specifically addresses the WM6 issue we are dealing with. |
Yes.
The VC patch worked on my xv6700 Helmi_c WM6 phone... ...by that I mean that prior to the patch when I would attempt to initiate a VC via my BT headset, it would drop the connection for BT back to the phone after 1 sec, forcing me to use the phones speaker to interact with VC. Once patched, the BT connection is maintained and I can control VC through BT. I'll post later if my reminders are reading through BT now. Clean, simple and effective. Thanks! -Surfer |
I saw the issue initially when installing VC from a cab. I reset the phone and installed from the PC while tethered and it works fine for me now.
|
I installed with it tethered, I hear my BT headset come on when a call comes in but it won't ring or say who it is and I have set the settings according to what people have said to do.
It doesn't work but I will try the patch cab file when I get home, thx. |
Is anyone having any luck with the incoming announcements over bluetooth after using this patch? I'm waiting to hear some feedback before I try it.
|
I couldn't get it to work -- couldn't get caller ID announcement work over the phone speaker or BT headset. I have up and went back to WM5 3.5 until I hear this is fixed.
|
same here....I can't get the incoming call announcement to work. Pleaaseee....somebody help
|
i tweaked the patches a lil bti and all and got it working with no problems at all on my mogul heres the link.....

fixed wm 1.6 patch
hey the link does not work file not found error
|
I am also running wm6 with mvc 1.6 and have installed the previously described patch. The patch seemed to have fixed my ability to initiate voice dial via bluetooth, however I still do not get voice caller ID through headset. I found the following on Microsoft's and wonder if the problem has something to do with wm6 possibly not having the "Inband Ringtone" as referenced...but that is just a guess?
***Also the above link is not working*** Bluetooth audio routing is working except for Caller ID If you have a Windows Mobile 5.0 device prior to build 15097.3.0.0, you will not be able to receive spoken caller ID notifications through the Bluetooth headset. Windows Mobile with build number the same or higher than build 15097.3.0.0 includes support for Inband ringtone which is the mechanism that Voice Command uses for announcing caller ID information while the phone is ringing. |
hey just thought i'd let everyone know that voice command 1.6 is announcing calls over my motorola ht820 stereo headphones the ringer plays from the phone itself and the announcement comes through the headphone which i think is cool but i also have a jabra bt150 mono headset and while it will announce through the phone it will not route the announcement to the bluetooth headset

If anyone has the cab please respost it.
Thanks, Mikee |
Has anyone gotten it to work with the Apache yet?
|
Does not look like it yet. Again, can someone repost the cab?
|
as i mentioned before i have it working...

I went ahead and re-installed MSVC from the .EXE not the cab and then applied the MSVC patch and i am recieving caller announcement via my Jawbone BT headset as well as over the external speaker. PPC6700/Apache Helmi WM6 ROM, Radio 1.41 Cheers, |
Are you talking about Voicemd Apache Fix 2.zip in this post? http://forum.ppcgeeks.com/showpost.p...&postcount=295
If so, I installed this a week or so ago. It set button 5 for me, but I still don't get call announcements in my Bluetooth headset or the phone's speaker. If not, can you post a link to the actual file or at least the post that has the link? |

That thread is so big that I can't find the patch you refer to. Can you link to the post it is mentioned in or post it here? Thanks.
|
Sorry, I found it. FYI it is in the first post under number 5.
