Doesn't the "fix" cause severe battery drain?

IT WORKS!!!

installed the "slueth fix", removed the bitbools, added the sample rate, and joint stereo is 2.

freakin awsome!!!:headbang: =D>

**edit**:
the Slueth fix causes severe battery drain. i removed it, and with the above settings, i had results almost as good, just an occasional skip.

I am concerned about installing a "fix" as well after seeing various posts about its battery drain. I have tried every registry fix out there and nothing is working. I think this was a miss in the build. Maybe he can address it with the next one. Or if someone else figures something out without me having to install a cab, I would love to hear it.

So far my personal experience is running counter to the info floating around the net.

Let me explain.

A2DP worked pretty well out of the box. So of course I need to f#ck with it because I assume MS is incompetent. Anyway, IIRC the default setting is UseJointStereo=0. But from what I read @ XDAdev, this is monoX2.

To my ears, with the limited tracks I have in mp3 (I have not installed a thing as of yet) the default is in fact stereo and does not skip [much].

Can anyone confirm?

I am an hour of free time away from making my own stereo test...

shiggs 09-04-2007 08:00 PM

OK, took less than an hour to whip a "phaser" test in audacity and unless my brain is wired wrong UseJointStereo=0 is in fact stereo and for the most part (99%) - does not skip. These are the default registry settings, and going from phone call to music player and back again works great.

I am leaving it to my ears, and they say satisfied.

then there must be some variation of chipsets / headset pickiness. i already deduced the same thing you did but no matter the setting, i still get the skipping.

For those with severe skipping issues, try this:

1) HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Bluetooth\A2DP\Settings
Bitpool 58
MaxSupportedBitPool 128
UseJointStereo 2

Hint: write down old settings if you want to go back

2) Soft Reset
3) Make sure your headset is paired
4) Go into BT Settings then devices and press and hold on your Stereo headset device and choose "Set as Wireless Stereo"
5) If it still skips, go back into BT Settings and uncheck "Turn on Bluetooth", hit OK
6) Go back into BT settings again, and check "Turn on Bluetooth" (for some reason using Cycle BT or using the Comm manager to cycle the BT doesn't seem to work for me)
7) then do step 4 again.

It will usually be solid once you get no skipping, and it will last all day or until you pair a different BT headset.

Lastly, the BT and Wifi share the same antenna. There is no way as far as I know to have BT and Wifi on simultaneously without a skipping issue.

One more thing, this is not my work, I read it somewhere on another forum, and unfortunately I can't give the right person credit for the work, because I don't remember who figured it out :(

Thanks. I'll give it a try.

I can confirm the WiFi/A2DP skipping.

For me, it happens 100% of the time if both are enabled.

I don't have WM6 yet, but that right there clears up almost all of my BT audio problems. I mean, not even a soft-reset will or re-pairing will do, but cycling that setting will. I can only figure that it must reset a corrupt setting in the BT stack that even persist after a soft-reset.

BTW, anyone try hemi's WM6 with a HT820?
