if you guys a leaving wm6 because of threaded sms DO IT. If that benefit outweighs all the perks of wm6 then you dont need the updated ROM. Wait for the kitchen.

I can almost guarantee this is a mismatch of a file type within the install. I helped beta test the original versions of the palm SMS threader (before it had to be taken off here and XDA). This problem (almost exact same problem) popped up before, because the Palm SMS files were taken off a newer AKU and because of the way it interacts with the original mail program, we needed to include the updated versions of several system files. Now from what Helmi has said, the version of WM6 that we are using is built off a NEWER version of wm6, hence why it probably works on the 6800 and other WM6 PDAs. My theory is that we will probably have to use a downgraded version of the mail program (and associated necessary files) OR wait til the Treo 750 gets an update to this newer version of WM6 (which may never happen). If im correct, then the palm SMS program wont work on whatever device this rom was pulled off of.
this makes the most sense of any speculation that we are throwing around. If this is true, then once a kitchen comes down the pipes we should be able to "downgrade" the outlook mail files (and probrably lose the stupid html email garbage) but none-the-less have a working program.

I dunno, i suppose ill just sit tight on AKU 3.5 until there is some sort of solution.

It's got potential, but it really misses the mark for me compared to the palm threader. Plus, it seems pretty buggy right now and, from what I can tell, it needs to be running to intercept incoming messages.

I do a lot of emailing through SMS (to Skytel pagers, for example) and the palm app is absolutely brilliant for this. I can select email addresses from any of the contact's email fields (email, email2, email3 -- I use them all) and it would maintain separate threads to those addresses. This app only allows me to select the "email" field within the program's contact list and I still have to send the initial message through the standard messaging app before it will start a thread.

The finger scrolling is cool and all, but for SMS threading, it needs work.

will the 750 wm6 upgrade that was just released help us out with this task?

It seems to be available in a zip file from palm if you look hard. Serial # not required for the files.

Awesome! Hopefully someone with the expertise can extract the app (assuming it's still in the build) and come up with a cab for it... and/or an OEM for the kitchen.

so i went back to 3.5 installed palm and i installed pocketcm because i like the style of the contacts list but every time i get a text though palm pocket cm pops up too. so i had to get rid of it.. i hope the makers of pocketcm read my email and separate the sms from the contact list then it will be perfect.

btw eyeballz thanks for that find i hope some wiz on here manages to crack that and get it working on wm6 because there is a lot of people on here that use palm threader for more than just chatting with friends.. i myself like hefman use it all day to email my reps on skytel

My pleasure, that was the first step ..getting around the serial validation to download the nbf fie contained in the zip.

You are right someone should be able to extract it from the rom if its there. Not me though. Im not the guy.

Let me repeat this , I am not the guy/girl that will extract the Palm SMS app from the WM6 rom. Im just the encourager
