Yay, it worked on my Sprint 6700 with NO issues so far...
He's happy so I'm happy.

ok so, are ppl having the same issue with pic mail to that it goes to that website that shows a small or no pic at all like in the 3.5 builds?

Another question before I take the plunge - Recall I am running the Verizon 6700: Prior to the "APAC_VZW_20720_200_11000_Ship.exe" upgrade, there wasn't any voice activated control of the device, so I loaded up the Micro$oft VoiceCommand (version 1.5, I think).

I continue to use this version even after having installed the above mentioned release - IMHO VoiceCommand maybe one of MicroSofts better efforts - Its scary good - You don't have to train it or anything, it just works.

I bet you already know my questions:
1. Does the Helmi upgrade include one of the voice control applications?
2. If so, Which One: "VoiceCommand" ? or "VoiceSpeed Dial"?
3. Can I install my VoiceCommand on top of the Helmi upgrade?

And somewhat unrelated, but still a questions in my mind:

4. If something goes wrong, can I re-install the "APAC_VZW_20720_200_11000_Ship.exe" package and get back to where I am today?

Thanks All,
-PH

One More Question

How do I know which bootloader I am running? Is there a way to find out before starting the procedure? I don't see it on my Verizon (WM5) "Start> Settings> System> About" screen.

Thanks,
-PH

1. no
2. refer to question #1 answer
3. yes...but currently (or maybe its been fixed by now) announcement over bt are not exactly working properly
4. why not? yes...and then you could reinstall any other rom...as well as wm6...

but who knows...i may be wrong...maybe you should fool around wit it for a bit...

well....theres nothing wrong if you put it in bootloader mode...after you put it in bootlloader...jus soft reset and its all good again...just put it in bootloader mode (power button, voice record button and soft reset simulataneously), and look at bottom of screen.......you'll see "serial" at the top and "what ever the bootloader is" at the bottom

also...you could search the forums and keyword this stuff....hope it helps

Alrighty.....an Alltel PPC 6700 in action with WM6. Thank you...money in the "mail". Installed and was up and running within 20 min. Biggest thing I cannot get around is this. Even with the WiFi connection active, Windows Live uses the cell line for data. If I was to guess, I would say that I did something wrong?

you should be ready to soft reset when you see the "Customize your device in 3 seconds" screen. You can then proceed to unlock your extrom and delete everything out of there if you want. There's no harm in doing so and that will prevent it from trying to install that old stuff again.

And yes if you ever want the phone's ROMs (all three of them) restored to the Sprint-provided versions then you just download the appropriate ROM package from utstarcom's web site (the one you mentioned is the latest Sprint one--which sadly is extremely old and slow).

Rock Chalk Jayhawk!

Again - I have a Verizon 6700. I understand the first part of this (resetting prior to the customization), but can you explain further the "unlock your extrom" statement.

1. What does this mean?
2. How do you do it?
3. What does it win me?

Thanks,
-PH

I couldn't resist registering here just to say THANK YOU! In less than ten minutes my XV6700 transformed into a whole new device complete with the whole enchilada of practical and fun software. I had no problems whatsoever with the process- the phone still worked and PIM backup restored everything perfectly... Smooth as silk!

Helmi_c, you are awesome beyond all measure. THANK YOU!
