A Couple of Problems Need help

I have a xv6700 (verizon) phone that I use on cricket with no problems. Then I decided to upgrade to WM6. So I downloaded buildos and upgraded to Helmi 6.1 build...problem was I could never get past the 2nd startup screen. So I said lets try something else so i tried Lenny19213. Worked great only problem was the contacts "program" wouldnt work. So I said I'll try Lenny's new one 20273. Couldn't get past the first startup/boot screen (pic with # and letters). So I subtracted a bunch of programs tried again...same result. So i said screw it I'll put 19213 back on...same result....tried 19213 with nothing checked...same result.

I am stumped and just thinking about putting the stock rom on it and starting over. Any Ideas??? Also I have bootloader 0.32...yes you read that correctly.

Wow I thought I might need to get my eyes checked...how old is this phone that you would have bootloader version 0.32? I would reccomend flashing to a stock AKU3.3 rom you upgrade that bootloader. Wow....

I had the same problem with 20273, so I dropped back to 19213.

Re: A Couple of Problems Need help

yeeha more problems downloaded the stock verizon rom and I get the 101 connection error even though i can connect through buildos. Noticed a difference between RUU...my phone i have to use the noid...while the verizon stock seems to use the standard one? not sure if that is the problem but I don't see much else to go on.

With regards to the bootloader should i follow this http://forum.ppcgeeks.com/showthread.php?t=33076 Or it seems that the stock rom upgrades it?

I understand this process to an extent but now its starting to get confusing

Re: A Couple of Problems Need help

Naw that is to downgreade your bootloader for the days of when these unofcicial upgrades didn't support the newest bootloader. Here's the newest AKU3.3 http://handsets.utstar.com/phone_downloads.aspx?bid=39&cid=1&mid=76&carrier=V erizon%20Wireless as I'm not sure if that one from jabu is the newst. Just click on the aku3.3 then download now. Peace.

NP. I'm just trying to give back to the community here as this was the place I've learned what little I know. The AKU3.3 is the last ROM for the Verizon 6700.

Is 120 the connection right? If you're on Vista the only thing I could reccomend is diabling USB Connections in Windows Mobile Device Center.

TheOutlawTorn 09-09-2008 04:46 PM

Re: A Couple of Problems Need help

no 101 is connection, 120 is country id error...rom image is not designated to work on your device...check site and download correct blah blah.

He's trying the Stock AKU3.3 rom from Starcom.

Re: A Couple of Problems Need help

thats what were trying to do but I download the current Verizon stock AKU3.3 from UTstarcom and I get an error 120 which is region id or something like that. The only thing i can think of is somehow unpack the exe manually then replace the ruu with the noid ruu from buildos but I'm not a 100% sure if that is even feasible...so I e-mailed UTstarcom hopefully something good will come out of that.

Sorry nothing good can come out of that, they are never of any help. I thought that the exe placed all the files in the temp folder but it doesn't look like it...

Try this http://www.fileden.com/files/2008/3/...077/AKU3.3.zip I unzipped the aku3.3 and replaced RUU files with the NoId ones from the kitchen.

im downloading it right now but I got to go run errands...I have a good feeling this will solve the problem. We make a good team did it extract the files into the local settings/temp folder...I was about to look there but you beat me to it

I don't know where it goes...I just extracted the program using 7zip and then replaced the RUU files.

TheOutlawTorn 09-09-2008 07:03 PM

Re: A Couple of Problems Need help

i thought the files might match up but they don't...id have to look up how to create a custom kitchen cause I saw that some of the unextracted exe files matched up with helmi kitchens etc...but that seems to be a last resort as I have no idea how to do that.

Q14: I get “error 120: Country id error”, what should I do?

A: It may due to you get the wrong image. Please check your device’s device name and language type and download RUU package from the vender web site again and reset your device and then run RUU again.

this is the ruu's solution quite helpful

Re: A Couple of Problems Need help

Gahhh, if it aint one thing it's another...so why are you using the junk official ROMS again?

TheOutlawTorn 09-09-2008 07:39 PM

Re: A Couple of Problems Need help

Well this all might be a moot point...now when you hard reset it goes straight back into bootloader (see previous post) so now im even more confused...this officially sucks

TheOutlawTorn 09-09-2008 07:41 PM

Re: A Couple of Problems Need help

because the 6.1 roms wouldn't load past the first screen (with the # and letters at the bottom)so um...I have to get it to work somehow so why not put the stock rom back on it and try that...but that doesn't work because of the 120 error...so I'm stuck

I'm reading this http://forum.ppcgeeks.com/showthread.php?t=1904 Probably just going to make a custom rom with the noid bootloader and pray that the stuck in bootloader goes away

PDAPhoneJunkie 09-09-2008 07:56 PM

Re: A Couple of Problems Need help

What do you mean when reseting it goes into bootloader? When hard resetting (Two minus - keys plus reset hole) your phone goes into bootloader? Okay the reason why WM6.1 won't get past the screen is because you're putting too much stuff in the your rom. Really, running lean and mean is the way to do it.

I understand that...hard reset hit n goes back into bootloader. It only started that after the whole vista driver thing...so I reinstalled activesync just to make sure. Then I tried to reset and it stays in bootloader. I tried putting 19213 on it with just the default checks and it hard resets back into bootloader

Wow I am getting lost here. Okay just search for updated drivers and it will overight those other ones, even though those were extracted from ActiveSync, the might be outdated. Your phone has no ROM which is why it's going back into bootloader. I would suggest just using the kitchen to flash to a WM6.1 ROM and be done with it, not to sound mean at all just seriously it looks like going back to OEM ROM is becoming a nightmare.

Re: A Couple of Problems Need help

TheOutlawTorn & PDAPhoneJunkie, I have followed your thread about the Outlaw's problems and I may have a similar situation to Outlaw's but I'm not 100% sure. I want to cook a custom ROM for an Apache 6700 with Bootloader version 0.32 (using Sprint as provider), but the BuildOS Kitchen doesn't seem to support versions prior to 1.00. I have searched and searched this forum and google and I can't find a definitive answer to the questions: Can I upgrade the bootloader from 0.32 to any other version? And, if so, how do I go about upgrading it?

I don't want to even try to upgrade the ROM until I am sure that the old bootloader version issue can be overcome.

By the way, PDAPJ, I viewed some of your YouTube Videos and I like your iphone-like theme. Thanks for making those videos. They are helpful. Are you by chance using PrimeContacts in your ROM? And what phone dialer program are you using?

Regards,
-Carnac

Hello, yes the bootloader needs to be upgraded with a new official ROM. http://handsets.utstar.com/downloads...0_WWE_Ship.exe]Use this here[/url]. Your bootloader will be updated.

I do not use prime Contact. I use iContact. I use these here for dialers.

Re: A Couple of Problems Need help

FYI: PDAJunkie, I tried flashing the device with the old official sprint rom and it worked as expected. After a soft reset, it automatically started installing all the junk sprint customizations and then it did another soft reset. Once it came back up all seemed normal. BUT, when I put it in bootloader mode I see that the version is still v0.32.

Now that I have the old official ROM in hand, do you think I should risk bricking it and proceed with trying to cook a custom ROM using the buildOS kitchen set at the earliest possible bootloader version (ie v1.00)? If I try it and it doesn't work, do you think I can safely revert back to the official junk rom?

Many thanks for sharing your expertise.
