I was tring to flash to lennys ROM and kept getting that darn popup about the OEM-rar. For me the error when the log hits the extration point. I redownloaded the OEM as well but still got the error. Hope this helps.

You are having a different issue. What popup? the only error I know in the current ppcgeek_oem.rar is Sansung DDI drivers has a bad .dsm file (which I'll upload a fixed ppcgeeks_oem.rar today)

You have a conflicted OEM. Probably issue w/ LennySh's kitchen and PPCGeeks_OEM. See if he has an update.

The first step I preformed was a manual download of the package and retry, still got the error. Then I removed (uninstalled everything) and reinstalled buildos. I ran the updater and still got the error.
I going to uninstall everything once more and reinstall.

I installed Buildos on my desktop thats never seen build os be for and got all the DL and same error.

any solution for this error yet ? im having the same problem where it goes to 100% and then says can't copy ppcgeeks_oem.rar. Its funny to me because i did a fresh install on my laptop and that worked fine. Idk on what im doing wrong or missing from my desktop. Can i manually copy the ppcgeeks_oem.rar from http://ppckitchen.org/downloads/PPCGeeks_OEM.rar ? and where should i put it if its possible ? i will check back on response 2morrow. ohh and both pc's are XP pro with sp2

Yes u can manually download it and it goes in the kitchen folder...
C:\Program Files\PPCkitchen.org\BuildOS\Kitchens

Hey, I just ran the updater and it completed!
Just for giggles, I'm running it again and it appears to have a slightly different format with a bunch of updates available. There is now a "tree" for selections that have multiple options available. And the Apache kitchen has something about a "modular" kitchen.

Interesting it worked for you this time.

I haven't released the modular kitchen yet for apache. The modular format of kitchen makes updates a lot easier for us (shares files across kitchens for different device)

And the second time I ran the updater, it updated a whole bunch of stuff- took a while.
I'm running the kitchen now and it doesn't look very different- I see a few new things.

Does the fact that I saw something about a modular kitchen and you saying it hasn't been released mean that I'm getting unrealeased stuff somehow?:) Or is it just that there is a selection that really isn't downloading/installing anything right now?:drunken:

I am getting the same cannot copy errors. Seems I get it on just about every file.
I was able to update BuildOS itself without issue. but I cant get the kitchens or the OEM files to complete.

EDIT:
It seems to be a volume of data issue. I was able to get the kitchen files by selecting them one-by-one. when I tried to update a few more selections, i would get the cannot copy error. Actually I've gotten everything except the PPCGeeks_OEM.rar. That file is just too big.

Never been able to figure the problem with that one. Seems to be a http issue. You can download it manually.

Just d/l and ran for the Apache. I selected 'Apache_WM6.1_20748 Selections.txt' and next screen gives an error:

Most of the updater issues should now be fixed (except for ppckitchen_oem.rar...that one still eludes me). Please post any continuing issues.

I just ran Updater.
I found that there was only one update available and that was for PPC-BuildOS.exe. That downloaded and installed fine.
I ran it again (since I thought it was curious that none of the other options that usually showed up for the other devices were there) and I saw that now there were options for a number of other files and all the other devices. When I clicked Next, I immediately got the error message that PPC-BuildOS.exe wasn't found. Closed updater.
I ran it again. This time, all the other options were there, but PPC-BuildOS.exe was checked and greyed out so that I couldn't unselect it. That's where I'm stuck now. Nothing will update since I can't update the one file that can't be unselected and isn't found.

Manually downloaded all files (I think).
When I tried to run BuildOS.exe, it said that I had to uninstall- so I did so- and then installed it again.

Very interesting. After doing the above, I ran Updater again... and now it's downloading PPC-BuildOS.exe and some other files- but I'm pretty sure I already have the updated files. This looks like it could take a while... I'll check it again in the morning. Good night.

I had issues updating as well. wherever these files are hosted seems to be flaky.

It's either offline, terrible speed, or corrupted files. I wish the updater pulled them from the ppckitchen website. I get great speeds from there.

I am getting pretty much this same error only more to the tune of this:

"Can't copy file PPC-BuildOS.exe."

I have used BuildOS numerous times and haven't had any trouble with it at all up until now. Any ideas?

It seems like the updater links may be messed up- I saw that others were having some trouble in another thread.
Download BuildOS.exe manually and run it to reinstall BuildOS.

Run updater from within BuildOS.

Nah, it's not the links that are messed up, it's the connection cap on one of the mirrors and a flaw in updater (bad logic). I haven't had the time to make a fix yet.

I too have been out of the kitchen for a few months and am now getting these errors. It seems to be timing out from the server end. It's given me "cannot copy file" errors over ten times in a row now, and the file varies each time. To my semi trained eyes it just looks like a connection problem from the server end.

I checked the kitchen site for manual downloads and only saw the buildOS listed. Are the components we need to update somewhere else?


EDIT: On the 12th try it downloaded all the updates and installed fine. On a side note, for others getting the "file in use" error, make sure you're out of the kitchen program before you try to install the updates. Running the updater as a stand alone is the easiest way.

EDIT part 2: When trying to grab the Apache ROMS I'm getting the same "cannot copy file" errors. There seem to be quite a few files in there to download manually (I figured out where they were) so is there an easier way that I'm missing? Also, where do I put the manually downloaded apache files? I didn't see a folder that jumped out as being the obvious place. Thanks!

Ok, after getting a new computer and downloading BuildOS when I try to run the updater I am getting :

ERROR:

Can't connect to the server.

Probably the server that is hosting the update information is offline or not reachable. Please try again at a later time.

This same error happens with updater being ran alone or from within the BuildOs program.

Any ideas?

For giggles, I went out and uninstalled PPC Kitchen ... Downloaded/ran BuildOS.msi ... And Updater completed w/o issue ... Perhaps you've got a FW issue?

I have the firewall turned off right now, so I don't think that is the issue. I have also made sure that all the Windows updates are up to date. I am running XP Pro...same os as before. This is really starting to frustrate me. Would the fact that I am using CricKet Broadband for my internet connection have anything to do with the fact that I can't get the updater to work?

I am going to uninstall BuildOS and the install it again and see if that helps, but at this point I am not holding my breath.
