I would be happy to help, but I don't think I have the carrier files for your network... let me see what I have here.

Re: [12-11-11]Tinkerbell's 21916 Apache Rom

I know I'm late to the party but I'm dusting off an old HTC Apache with BL 1.00 and would love to tinker with it (no pun intended). Any chance you could whip me up a 6.5 Verizon ROM for that BL rev, or should I update my BL to apply this ROM? Does this ROM include drivers to support SDHC cards?

This originally had WM5 but I (mistakenly) used a 6.1 ROM I found here from circa 2007 just before the old threads were cleaned up, it's buggy as hell and full of bloat. Had no problem applying it, but so far all my attempts at replacing it have resulted in 264 and 260 errors (or stuck @ bootloader, which was fun to fix). I'm hoping to have better luck with this one.

Thanks so much for your contributions!

Hi, I successfully flashed my xv6700 with 1.00 bootloader with your ROM from PDAJs thread (clean wm6.5 apache). My questions are: will the same ROM work on bootloader 2.02? Also, how can I remove the pink keys from the keyboard?
Hello noobScrooge. No, you need to match the bootloader of a Rom with your device bootloader. Also, the pink is there to stay. Embrace it!

Quote:

...Also, I want the most versatile OS for the xv6700. It sucks battery power quickly, so that is most important to prevent. Secondly, I am going to need Opera mini and J2ME for use over PP QNC. I installed QNC via Active Sync 4.2 before flashing. Maybe you know of the best maps solution, (lookup by name of business)like google maps and directions are best.
Setting your screen to turn off automatically at 30 seconds will help. Also, turn off WiFi and Bluetooth if you are not using them. You can search for Opera Mini and J2ME here on these forums. I use bing, although the Apache will not be able to find your location. The GPS is only used for emergency services.

Also I found GPS software and the guy says it works (xda developer forum)Sounds iffy, thought I'd mention it.
Sorry, no GPS with this little guy. Nice little phone though. Enjoy.

Hey Tink... How do I do a Master Reset on this a.k.a. Clear Storage to factory settings?

I accidentally messed up HTC Home and it wont load now. Tried a Hard Reset and it done nothing, everything was still the same.

Thanks

Re: [5-12-12]Tinkerbell's 21916 Apache Rom

Hey n1nj4Lo! That is interesting that a hard reset would not restore HTC Home. What did you do? I would like to try and replicate your issue here.
At this point, I would reflash the Rom. That should restore HTC Home. Let us know.

Re: [5-12-12]Tinkerbell's 21916 Apache Rom

Well I was trying to install a bunch of different methods for getting M2D/TF2D and none worked so I went into SKTools and marked the select files to uninstall then when I reset my device HTC Home wasn't listed in the Today Plugin's list, the tab was still there. So I tried installing HTC Home 2.1 it showed up in the list but didn't do anything when selected, I also had HTC Home Customizer installed.

I've since then moved onto different rom's and trying to get one with built in M2D/TF2D installed on it and WinMo 6.5, I'm just running into a country code error on it.

Also for some reason hard reset doesn't appear to affect my phone, I press the far left and right soft keys, hit the reset pin at the sametime, let it boot back up slide open the keyboard and press y for yes then it loads windows again with no changes. LoL I don't get it.

Re: [5-12-12]Tinkerbell's 21916 Apache Rom

Hrmmm Funky things a foot here...

So I successfully installed Simzz 6.5 with M2D/TF2D and a bunch of my stuff stayed, programs and what not, not that I'm complaining I enjoy using Wisbar Advance and their better Start Menu but it's just odd that a flash didn't wipe them out and clear everything.

I used NoID_RUU Tool and it's actually really fast and nice looking I have 14Mb of free space and 10Mb of free ram/memory

Re: [5-12-12]Tinkerbell's 21916 Apache Rom

If ya don't mind Tink, I need the cab's that have these files.

BatteryMeter.exe - scratch that!
CheckAutoRun.exe
MemoryMeter.exe - scratch that!
sddaemon.exe
xTask.exe - scratch that!

They're in my StartUp folder. I like them, at least the one's that I know do what... I.E.: xTask, Batt and Mem Meter, however I dunno what sddaemon or CheckAutoRun is, I tried deleting them from StartUp and it wouldn't let me for some odd reason, so I wouldn't mind having them again and running just to get rid of those annoying popups at start up.
_

I did manage to finally get them deleted from the StartUp list. Just curious to what those last two do.

Sounds like you are heavy into tweaking and getting your device just right. I am mobile at the moment, but I will see if I have cabs for those files when I get back!

Thanks, I already hunted down and got xTask's and Battery/Memory Meter cab's...

Yup I tweak my phones to the extreme sometimes. LoL

I'm just more concerned with cleaning up all the extra free space I can get and getting rid of these dangling app's from old rom's.

My understanding is that this sort of watches over SD card issues, and is required if you use a memory card. My Vogue with stock ROM has an SDDaemon.exe (53.4K) as well as sddaemon.lnk (26B), both in \Windows\ directory, plus another sddaemon.lnk (26B) file in \Windows\StartUp\ folder. My Vogue with a custom ROM has only something named sdmemory.dll (10.8K) in \Windows\, and no sddaemon, neither in Windows nor in StartUp. And memory cards work well in both phones.:dontknow:

Ahh okay cool, that's what I gathered from reading over at XDA, just can't figure out what CheckAutoRun.exe is now.

Hello! I just got my apache in the mail today, and I plan on using it for my daily driver until I can upgrade to a new phone (old phone broke, long story.) What I was wondering is, is this ROM stable enough to be used daily, and will those colored bars on the start bar remain there when I install it? Thank you for all your work! EDIT: also, when I boot into bootloader mode to check out what version I have, it says I have version 1.00.

Yes, it is very stable. The stock Rom is virtually unusable. WM 6.5 actually runs very nicely on this device.

Yes, they are part of the Rom itself.

One last newbie question, sorry! What version should I download for my phone? Should I download 1.0 for Sprint, even though my Apache is on Verizon? If I try to download 1.04 for Verizon, it gives me a "Page not found" error. Thanks for your time!

Re: [10-12-12]Tinkerbell's 21916 Apache Rom

Thank you so much! I just flashed and showed it to my friend who still uses his Apache on Verizon as a daily driver (convinced me to buy the Apache :P), and he would like 6.5 on his Apache too, if it's not too much work! He tried downloading it for bl v.1.04, since that's his version, but the link is broken.

Okkay, I will get that back up for you a little later today. I lost my FTP sometime back and there were broken links all over the place, it was hard to track them all down. Thank you for your understanding!
