Hey guys, new to forum, i attempted "cooking" some stuff onto my fresh PPC-6700 i got today. i ran Into a little problem. it's a mishaps on my part. My phone just became a brick. As of now. the Screen only displays Serial when off the plug, and USB when on the plug. I did everything. Phone shut down attemted to reset and just stayed black. i can't get out of this screen, even after Hard reseting a couple times. when the option to Set back to factory spec. I push Y , it states Clear OK, Press Space to Boot. I go to push Space and it goes back to Serial/USB V2.02. Im not here to blame anybody. i knew the risk. just trying to see if i can fix my mistake. If worse came to worse i could take it to sprint have them look at it. see if they can fix it. BTW from what i had seen and all the option. this looked really cool. i hope once my phone is back to normal i can use this. Thanks - Andy

Read the "stuck in bootloader" sticky, in the main apache forum.

GoatDweller - post a screen shot of the overwrite message you got (or the exact wording of the message). If it only said what you say, it needs to be fixed - but I can't identify it without the exact wording.

No problem...
I want to flash my XV6700 soon as possible however I have no clue what I have installed from this other guy that modded it because I bought it used...

Is there anyway to find out what I have on here?
More specifically what skin, what media player, and any skins I have for example:

In the today Menu under settings I have these themes
Autumn
BlueSky Green Field
Cirusus Clouds
Classic Black
Earth
Grass_b2
Htc default
Metal
MsnNavy BLue and fields and XP 2
Sunset
Teal Vista
Windows default
Wm_black2...

I am trying to learn if these are from any kitchen cooked by your awesome team, Rob's or Verizon Guys?

I think it's pretty safe to say it's the helmi's kitchen original as the base right?
-Also I had a question for you my dad wanted answered- When you have the Rom cooked and the PPC up and running can you delete any of the programs you added before flashing OR are they technically preinstalled software and can only be changed my flashing again?
-And, do those preinstalled programs get stored in the program files folder OR Windows Root directory? I have noticed when I installed programs after, lets say from a website they show up in the programs folder? Is this correct. I guess that makes that 2 questions lol. I am really trying to learn and what I want to do is duplicate what I have exactly on my PPC 6700, and reflash it so that my ))C would have the new Rom, plus whatever programs I currently have or close to it.

My PPC runs pretty fast with no errors with the 3.5 Rom but someone said it is unsupported and the newer one is def better...Thank you in advance Or if you are bored one day and want to talk it up or want to email me some info my email is GoatDweller@gmail.com

One more thing..Lets say I install RObMayers Rom, and I find it too OEM like How in the world can I add more programs from the cooking PPCGeeks program with all of the extras that are there as options? How would I do that because I remember when I loaded the Apache helmi's kitchen, and if you checked too many programs you get an error stating I overshot the Rom... I have searched but haven't found the correct answer, or it's there and it's too technical to understand. I remember something about saving to OEM Folder but I don't get it.

You cannot delete them, all you can do is delete there shortcut so they don't show up but they will still be there. I is so esy to cook up another ROM with changes that you can do it 2-3 times a day if you want to test. I cooked about 25 in 2 weeks just to play and find the programs I liked most. If you use the OEMizer and active sync you can hard reset or cook and have your phone back to exactly the way it was before you hard reset it.

The ROM is actually by itself. It is an alloted amount of space for your OS and programs that are preinstalled. <---- Bad description probably but basically if you don't use the space it can't be used later. Stuff your ROM with all you can because this memory space cannot be used for anything else. It cannot be added to or taken away from after you flash. Hope that makes sense.

This is going to be trial and error for you. I like the kitchen and feel it is the only way to go. Some like for others to do the work for them and they just flash. IMO this process has been made so easy, thanks to the devs here, that you can do it yourself. You can pick your programs and flash your own ROM in 15-30 minutes once you get used to it. As far as the error goes, add items then build if you get the error take a few things out and give it another go. Just trial and error, but very easy to do.

Everything you said here made perfect sense and now I understand. My only hang up is how can I add more programs from the kitchen list, after I have already cooked my Rom? -And, how would I know what I have on my phone currently because it was purchased used? BTW, thank you for the advice I greatly appreciate it sir!

You cannot add any items from the kitchen once your ROM build is complete. However, if you right click on an item in the kitchen and click visit homepage you may find a CAB. A CAB file is used to install programs. You just download the CAB and install it on you phone. Use you file explorer to search for your programs currently installed. It is not likely that you will have anything other than stock programs if you bought the phone as used. Also there are some software threads in different areas of the froum here. Just search there are lots of free stuff out there.

Okay will do. The weird thing is- is that my phone has been flashed with something because the splash says HTC like your kitchen does, but PPCgeeks in blue up top is missing? File explorer, alright. Sounds good man.

Just an older version from here. Probably the original Helmi_c ROM.

Settings/Device info can give you the information on the ROM version. It could be a Verizonguy build as well, but chances are that it's the Aug 31 Helmi_c ROM.
