If you can't get the most recent stock carrier rom to work, there's no chance of getting anything else to work. If you're on Vista, make sure you have the most current version of MDC (visit Windows Update). Since you have a newer bootloader, you need to use the x.04+ RUU. Since you are still having trouble, I suggest you stop by the chat room for more detailed troubleshooting.

I didn't read through 98 pages, but I'd just like to point out two things that might be of use. I apologize if they've already been said, and want to express my deepest gratitude to everyone who helped put this rom kitchen, and all of the many other settings/hacks/tricks/code/blood/sweat/tears into this project.

Unless I'm missing some, it'd be great to have the memory each thing requires listed next to it in the kitchen window, and possibly both the hex and decimal versions of the memory displayed on the error window saying you've used more memory then available (for those of us who don't read hex without plugging it into a converter). Just a thought.

Which carrier? The stock ROMs are at the UTStarcom site. I go there sometimes to remind myself of the bad old days......

Just wanted to update. After spending 2 1/2 hours last night on it....finally got the stock rom to start again...then it froze. Rebooted the pc (after disconnecting), phone still in bootloader, and this time, the kitchen WM6 loaded. Don't know what happened differently.....but hey...I'm not complaining. BTW - the new ROM looks great - thanks helmi et al. Haven't played with it much...but it looks nice, and seems faster too. Can't wait to get into it.

Wouldn't that be great? :-)

Yes, said many times.

There's actually a memory consumption gauge in the current kitchen release, but it's disabled presently (yeah, I know, that's not much different than not there at all). I'm hoping to get it functional for the next release. Whether I show sizes of individual OEMs is yet to be determined...depends on time availability.

In the meantime, someone (I forget who) posts a list of OEM directory sizes shortly after each kitchen release...you can use that as a guideline (it's not the same as what it actually takes up in the ROM, but it's a good way to determine relative sizes of the OEMs).

BTW, you should either downgrade to a 2.02 bootloader, or be very careful about how much you put into your ROM. Most of your trouble probably comes from building a "full" ROM and trying to load that on your 2.04/2.05 bootloader phone. That combination is highly discouraged as the 2.04/2.05 bootloaders have a smaller ROM space than prior bootloaders, which the kitchen is presently unaware of - no telling what problems you will run into.

Me. Glad it's useful.
