Wuss,
MSVC is a commercial program with no trial versions. You must purchase the software and install it separately. Once you have installed it, then you can backup the executable to a storage card, reflash the rom including MSVC, then copy the executable into your /windows folder. That's the way the OEM is set up to work.

I could be wrong, but don't you have to drop the exe in the kitchen oem/msvc folder and then build the rom? If the dsm includes the reference to this file it should crash buildos if the file isn't present. (well actually, error out on the build)

Yeh looks like I was wrong on where to put that - I was remembering the procedure for pre-cooked roms that included MSVC. I just checked my kitchen folders and saw that I had dropped it into the MSVC OEM folder as you said. Hope that helped Wuss912.

Then you likely have too much stuff in there. Try to cram less stuff into your ROM. Remember, MSVC is very large, so if you put it into ROM then you will have less room for other stuff.

If it crashes when you try to open BuildOS, that probably means you have OEMs witht he same GUID (aka you 2 OEMs have the same xxxxxxxx.dsm or xxxxxxxx.rgu file names)

As mentioned earlier, you are probably trying to build too much into your ROM. That's usually why BuildOS crashes in the middle of running the build. If it crashes when you open the program, then you have a problem with an option.xml file somewhere.

If BuildOS is still crashing after removing stuff, then you need to open the temp folder and check the log file. It will show you the last thing BuildOS was working on when it crashed. It could be a problem with an rgu file. That's your best starting point for what's causing this.

There are also some good tips for this problem in the walkthrough file in the Help and Support folder.
